The past month

Long time, no talk! The past month has been busy, busy, busy as my parents have been staying with us over the holidays. I’m sad to see them go but it is a bit nice to get back into the swing of things.

What have I been up to? Hmm, well I guess not a whole lot.

I took my parents up the Banff gondola to take advantage of some awesome winter views of the Rockies. I’ve been up there a couple of times before, but it was pretty cool this go around- we went on a weekday AND it was absolutely frigid, so there was hardly anyone else up top. My mom and I ventured the stairs to the highest viewpoint while my dad watched from inside.

We baked. So on top of a growing belly, I grew my thighs a bit as well. Sidetracking: I’m totally cool with this whole getting-big-being-pregnant thing *HELLO BOOBS* except I just can’t get over how much my legs have changed due to lack of high impact cardio and the inability to get really deep into squats. Ah well, it could be worse!

You guys…….NOMS is all I can say

We also managed to get out to a couple of our favorite restaurants in Calgary: Anejo and Wurst. Holy hell are those pleas good or what. At Anejo, we all had tacos -adobo pork and snapper are my faves-, guac, and margaritas (no margie for me WHAAAA). At Wurst, we indulges in scrumptious appies, drinks, mains, and a strudel to die for. Please note, I ate just about the entire pretzel that it probably suitable for about 4 people. WINNING.

I also tried to workout as much as I could (while being limited almost strictly to home workouts) between naps and eating. I managed to get to a couple of spin classes mixed in with some Prenatal Vinyasa Flow workouts, modified T25 routines, and a variety of interval/strength workouts that I either wrote up on my own and got from Pinterest.

We watched a ton of TV too, obviously. Got through all of season 1 of Blacklist, then watched The Interview, Fury, The Equalizer, and The Captive. Then about 230592309 hours of HGTV and Food Network.

A lot got done for the baby’s room as well (and basement reno). I really have to thank my parents for helping MAJORLY with both of these. They are really the best parents ever and are going to be the bet grandparents as well. Shame they live so dang far away! So, for the baby’s room: we painted, got new blinds, set up the crib, got a mattress, refinished the dresser I bought for a change table, and bought tons of other little goodies. Once it comes together a bit more, I might share some photos!

OH! And Christmas! Tyler spoiled the crap out of me. For reals. Not only did he get me another pair of diamond stud earrings, but he got me a fancy schmancy camera and some Seahawks gear! I’ve only touched the surface on learning how to use the camera, so I’ve got a lot to do before the baby arrives so I can take some Grade A photos.

Christmas

Ok, so there are the highlights from the past month. Did you miss me? I’ll be funnier next post, I promise.

  1. So the big thighs may not have anything to do with the NOM factor…I found that when I exercised while pregnant the legs got bigger just to help me carry that belly around while kickboxing, etc. I remember having the kid, the stomach disappearing, and being like, “Whoa! Whose legs are these?”

  2. You make me want to eat. So many good eats. I love anejo. I’ll have to add wurst to my list. Cannot wait to see the nursery and all your renos. Glad you had a good visit with your parents!

  3. I’d weigh 500 lbs if I baked that much so you are doing well!!

I liked some of the tutorials from Photo Concentrate for learning how to use your dslr. You have to pay for them but they are well worth it, even to just get the basics. There is a lot of info on Pinterest as well, I just haven’t found the time to sift through it all. Learn now before baby comes and sucks all your time!
