Weekender

There should be a day between Sunday and Monday called Sleepday. I feel wiped from the past week and just want to curl up under the covers and doze off for a good long while. Weird since I am still averaging 8+ hours of sleep each night. So, a rather quick recap of the weekend:

Friday: Pancakes. Duh, I know. I love them so much. This week they’ll probably be green because I’ve got a huge container of spinach sitting in the fridge. Hope they turn out ok!

After quickly squeezing in a workout, walk with the dogs and a shower, I met up with Jen for an afternoon industry tasting session of Winefest.

It was a pretty neat session since it was FAR less crowded than normal. We were able to chat with many of the vendors and learned a few things. And drank wine. Mmm, wine.

Saturday: I didn’t sleep a wink the night before, so the morning was a rough go. (More from the lack of sleep than from the wine. I feel so grown up?) Tyler made a delicious breakfast and I ended up napping on the couch..then being a couch potato for most of the rest of the day.

Remember when I thought I killed my computer? We ordered a replacement before determining the existing still worked. So- we sold the old computer and I got to open the new one! Even though it’s exactly the same, it’s a bit exciting. Although now my pictures are all backed up on a separate hard drive and I’m dreading having to sort through them eventually.

And my child loves cheese.

IMG_2816

I gave Wes a quick bath while Tyler brought his mom back to the airport then quickly hopped in the car to head to Winefest AGAIN.

This time, I met up with Susie and opted to try more of the white wines. This tasting was open to the public, so there was a lot of interesting people watching! I wound up eating more than drinking (maybe 1 full glass total?) and was home by 10:30. I have to remember that I’m no good at staying out late anymore! It was still a lot of fun 🙂

Sunday: With Wes being on a 1-nap-a-day kick, he has been going down a lot earlier each night, but also stirring a bit earlier in the morning. I got him out of his crib at 7:15am and he actually fell asleep on me for an additional hour! I would have loved the extra sleep myself, but I sat there and soaked up the giant baby cuddles.

IMG_2833

Tyler requested waffles for breakfast which I was all to happy to make! They had to be vegan waffles because we ran out of eggs. It took a lot of willpower for me to not eat any of the leftovers and store them in the freezer for a future last minute breakfast.

A good order of operations: make breakfast BEFORE scrubbing every inch of your bathroom clean. Man alive do bathroom gets gross or what? I was on hands and knees getting behind the toilet and everything. Nasty.

IMG_2837

IMG_2843

After Wes’s nap, we opted to head down to the Foothills Hospital Home Lottery home.We bought a few tickets for it this year, and needed to check out our potential new home 😉 This is the first year that we actually really liked it! Every room was pretty darn awesome.

Since the house is on an island, we had to take a shuttle. Wes was a trooper the entire time!

IMG_2864

IMG_2868

Before dinner, I was about to take the dogs for a walk and noticed Layla’s tags were missing from her collar. I ended up taking them on the same route as the day before to see if they had fallen off anywhere, but no luck. I took them for another walk after dinner to just unwind and go at a decent pace since it was them dark and no sense trying to look for the tags then.

Ok, I’ve done about 300 loads of laundry today, most of the house is clean, and I’m wiped. Hope you had a great weekend!

Weekender

Well, this weekend was SUPER low key. Almost did nothing! Tyler has this week off so it’s nice to not feel rushed after the weekend- even if it was a three day weekend!

Friday: Pumpkin pancakes to start the day. I used the last of my maple syrup jug! Sad face. I may or may not have licked the remaining syrup off my plate 😉

IMG_2488

And that is the only photo I took of the day! haha. The rest is just same old, same old–> I worked out, walked the dogs, picked up around the house. Wes napped, ate, pooped, napped, ate, pooped. Thrilling day I tell ya.

Saturday: The day started off pretty darn slow. I ran a couple of errands while Wes took his morning nap then presented him (a day early) with some Valentine’s day goodies. He was super thrilled as you can see.

IMG_2503

We went to Costco in the afternoon then rounded out the day with a delicious pork tenderloin dinner.

IMG_2512

I also enjoyed a beer…with a baby in the background!
IMG_2507

We watched Bridge of Spies then went to bed.

Sunday: Another slow as molasses day. Lots of cuddles with my little guy in the morning and I squeezed in a workout, shower and some breakfast while he was down for his morning nap.

IMG_2516

The sun was a-shinin’ so bright I NEEDED to get Wes out of the house to soak up some good old vitamin D! We walked down the street to the swings for a hot second.

Boo sported his brand new Will & Co toque and loved it! Know how I know? He didn’t even once try to take it off. #winning

IMG_2598

Funniest part– he looked as if he was falling asleep on the swing for a few minutes. Tyler thought we could get him down for a nap right after, but my mama instincts knew that wouldn’t be the case. It’s so cute though I have to share a small video of it:

Wes on the swing from Jen Linton on Vimeo.

I took the doggies for a long walk to get more fresh air while Wes napped again and wound up with a fresh air headache. Does anyone ever get those? They hurt.

Got some pics of my handsome little Valentine

posing for the ladies 😉

SOMEONE *cough cough Tyler* didn’t acknowledge Valentine’s Day (the girly girl in me is bummed out there were no chocolates or flowers or even a Happy Valentine’s Day) but he did make pizza for dinner, so that makes up for it. Well, makes up for 10% of it. I still want chocolates. And flowers.

IMG_2602

We watched The Walking Dead (so romantic) and I called it quits. I don’t know how I’m so tired when my fitbit tells me I averaged 8hr 54min sleep this past week!

Monday: Typical morning. After Wes’s nap, we headed to Cross Iron and Tyler’s mom got him a bunch of new clothes. I packed my lunch for the ride!

We were there for a couple of hours and Wes did really great.

IMG_2611

While he was down for his afternoon nap, I posted his 10 month update and took the dogs for a nice run/walk.   Tyler spoiled us for dinner with smoked steaks. SO YUMMY! (And he did buy chocolates at the mall, so he’s partially excused for the Valentines mishap) We watched The Good Dinosaur then went to bed.

How was your weekend? Have any chocolate? Wait, don’t tell me. I’ll get jealous 🙂

Weekender

Hi there, ho there friends! How was your weekend? Ours was great. Not a lot happened and it went by FAST. Backin’ it up….

Friday: Well the day can’t start off that bad when you’ve had 10.5 hours sleep! I had a little extra pep in my step throughout the day and it felt glorious. We had pancakes for breakfast, took a walk in the afternoon, enjoyed burgers for dinner, watched a bit of TV and hit the hay.

WAIT, THERE’S MORE—> I was feeling overly ambitious and whipped up a batch of Rocky Road Cookie Bars while Wes napped. Combine the smell of those babies (the cookie bars, not the actual baby) in the oven with an hour of wonderfully fresh air afterwards on our walk and I was in heaven!

Saturday: If you’ve been reading for a while, then you can probably guess how Saturday went. Home Depot and Costco. THRILLING. We bought so much meat, we’re in meat debt. Except we’re not really in debt because you can’t pay by credit card at Costco. So that means we’re meat…rich?

Oddly enough, the only photo from the day is a combo of my favorite beer + my favorite human.

IMG_2122

I took the dogs for a super long walk through murder town. It’s what I refer the neighboring community as since there was a murder there last summer. It’s not dangerous in the least bit, but I’m paranoid city and opted to jog off and on. I don’t know why I told you that, it’s a better community than the one I live in and they have better walkways.

Tyler made pizza for dinner and if I wasn’t beer-full, I would’ve probably eaten the whole thing. It’s so good. I’d invite you over to try some, but that means we’d have to clean the house and BAHAHAHA not happening.

Sunday: I’d like to rename it BAEday. It has a good ring to it PLUS bacon and eggs are the bomb dot com.

Besides the usual laundry, workout, walk, blah blah blah, I also made a slow cooker pot roast.

IMG_2141

That’s pretty much it from this end…Ok there’s more but I don’t feel like typing it right now. Time to catch up on Mindy Project and paint the ol’ digits.

How was your weekend?

Weekender

Hi friends! Hope you had a great weekend! We’ve had some pretty quality family time over here, so no complaints. Although….I could have gone for a little more sleep….

Friday: In typical Friday fashion, I started the day with a batch of protein pancakes and about a gallon of coffee to help get the sleepies out of my eyes. I cut up my pancakes because I had to feed Wes at the same time and with his grabby arms this makes it way easier.

IMG_1698

Oh, and it was Wes’s 9 month birthday! I did his monthly recap which you can read here.

IMG_1705

After his morning nap we headed over to the doctor for his checkup. He did great, but was just a bit chilly!

IMG_1702

On the way home, we swung by the grocery store to pick up a few necessities (one of which may have been Ben & Jerrys).

We had leftover pot roast for dinner once Tyler got home then headed over to Costco to stock up. The trip wasn’t too long, so we got home in time for Wes to have his bottle, but the kid was on CRACK and preferred to roll around and babble until he finally went down at 8:45! At that point, I was ready to go to bed myself, but we watched a couple episodes of Homeland.

IMG_1696

IMG_1708

IMG_1710

Saturday: I didn’t wake up until 8am (HOO-FREAKIN-RAY). I got dressed and had some breakfast before Wes got up. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but man alive does it feel fantastic to have brushed teeth and a washed face in the morning. I quickly fed Wes then headed out the door to get to my hair appointment. Ummm…remind me never to go this long between appointments!

I got a lob cut and had the color brightened up a bit. It feels so great to have a fresh haircut I can’t even describe it. And the girl talk, HOT coffee and me time were the best!

IMG_1714

IMG_1719

The afternoon consisted of lunch, a trip to Home Depot, and taking the dogs for a walk.

IMG_1721

IMG_1727

We ordered pizza for dinner, finished Homeland and BOOM..out like lights.

Sunday: I woke up a walking zombie. Boo. Wes had another wakeup in the middle of the night which actually didn’t last too long, but I couldn’t get back to sleep. I think the worst thing in the world is when you WANT to sleep but your stupid brain won’t shut off.

I think about 4 hours later getting up I actually WOKE up so I made some BAE.

IMG_1733

I made Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars, took a nap, worked out, walked the dogs, did laundry then BOOM time for bed.

IMG_1741

Also, can we please talk about how this type of telephone is pretty much obsolete for his generation?

How was your weekend?

Weekender

How is the weekend over already? I swear to God it was only two seconds ago that I woke up and was excited to eat pancakes! Another low-key weekend for us..dang cold weather is keeping us indoors more than I’d like.

Friday: Pancakes in peace. Wes didn’t wake up until almost 8:30 so I was able to clean up the kitchen, make breakfast AND eat it in peace and quiet.

IMG_1533

I took a peak out the blinds and noticed how frosty white everything was! I opened the patio door to snap a pic and WHOA- it was pretty but FRIGIDLY cold out. Brr

IMG_1536

Wes’s first tooth even poked through! It’s very tough to see, but it’s there. So of course, photos were taken to celebrate. Love this sweet little boy!

IMG_1539

IMG_1537

IMG_1538

IMG_1540

IMG_1541

We braved the cold to run some errands- Co-op had a great sale on Vega so I had to make sure to pick some up. Wes wore his dino hat- I really need to take a pic of him in it because it’s so cute and I can’t help but laugh when he’s in it.

I was able to watch more Making A Murderer while Wes went down for a nap. BONUS: I had a Wild Rose Brewery Cowbell to enjoy while I watched! Tyler spent a good chunk of the evening painting all the trim we had picked up last weekend. Do home renos ever end? The guy is seriously busting his butt ALL THE TIME with something around the house! (PS: Thankful for that. I’ll stick to doing laundry and cleaning the bathrooms, tyvm)

IMG_1545

Dinner was super simple: Chicken roasted in Mums (<—SO GOOD), potatoes and broccoli. We watched a few episodes of Homeland then went to sleep.

IMG_1548

Saturday: Did I mention Tyler’s the best? He pretty much TOLD me to take a bath before Wes went down for his nap and to take as long as I wanted. I used one of the bath bombs he got me for Christmas and abused some me time for a whole hour. It was glorious.

IMG_1550

Meh- I just realized I took practically ZERO photos on Saturday.

During the afternoon, Tyler did more work on cutting and installing some of the trim while I took Wes grocery shopping. We played around for a bit when we got home, then I took the dogs for a walk while Wes napped.

IMG_1556

Tyler made lasagna for dinner- we stuffed our faces- then plopped on the couch downstairs to watch The Intern.

Sunday: The lasagna didn’t agree with me so well, and I wound up getting sick during the night (could’ve been the mix of that plus the prosecco I drank during the movie?) Yuck. I took a SUPER LONG nap in the morning then made myself a delicious brunch plate.

IMG_1558

The extra sleep + tons of water + food = much better feeling Jen.

We had the games on downstairs while Tyler was in/out of the garage cutting more trim. We’re a split household–> I’m a Seahawks fan and he’s a Vikings fan, so the game was pretty intense to watch. Not gonna lie though, I was sorta rooting for the Vikes because they have been having a pretty great season. Bummer ending…but my team’s still in it!

IMG_1568

During halftime, I decided to throw together my first ever batch of baked doughnuts! I chose to use this recipe– it was so simple to put together and they turned out GREAT. Like….super.freaking.delicious. Dare I say better than Tim Hortons? Yup.

IMG_1571

I will definitely be making this again in the VERY near future. And then all different kinds. I’m predicting a donut phase. Any flavor suggestions? Recipes to share? Send them my way, please!

IMG_1583

After these were done, I exercised extreme self-control by heading downstairs to workout BEFORE enjoying one…or two…of them.

We had Mucho Burrito for dinner (I’d much rather make food, but we were both STARVING and didn’t want to wait for meat to thaw. And we didn’t really want to cook either). Wes had dinner, his bath, then continued his weekend adventure of attempting to get on his knees to crawl but mostly managing to only roll all over the place.

The dogs got a walk before bed, but we sort of jogged it since I wasn’t much in the mood to be outside. Poll: Is anyone else guilty of keeping their PJs on under warm layers? I do it almost every time I walk the dogs.

Time to hit the sheets, I’m pooped!

How was your weekend?
