I didn’t mean to be absent from this little space for so long, but hot dang is it ever easy to get swept up in the holidays and before you know it…BOOM, it’s time to take down the tree. I honestly can’t even tell you what I did yesterday, but hopefully some of these pictures will jog my memory and be fun (for you) to look through!
My mom brought the rocking chair in from the playroom and it has been Wes’s fave spot to hang out lately. Never mind that he stands up in it and now tries to JUMP OFF.
[My new necklace from ColtandLala!] Yes, it’s a teething necklace, but it’s still cute to wear even when there are no teethers in the house.
At one point, we braved the mall just before Christmas and I let Wes walk the entire time. He was so excited to run from store to store and pointed out all the decorations. We were hashtag blessed with a long nap afterwards.

Of course grandma spoiled him and let him ride those insanely expensive rides while we were there. I see a toddler addiction coming on…
Before heading home, we had lunch at Chopped Leaf then enjoyed our freakishly delicious apples for dessert.
Not gonna lie, I took my apple & a knife, got into bed and binge watched Transparent.
Toddler is also obsessed with my chocolate chip cookies.
On one of the warmer nights (only -5) we went to check out Airdrie Festival of Lights. There were as many lights as I was hoping, but it was still a fun little walk to take. On the way home, we continued to drive around the neighborhood and check out everyone’s lights and decorations. Good thing there were snacks for Wes!

Since my parents are in town, I hadn’t had to book Wes in for childcare at the gym, but we still headed in together to bring his favorite childcare ladies some christmas presents. I can’t say enough good things about how awesome they are with Wes and I feel super comfortable leaving him there while I workout.

Then we headed to the library for BOOKS, but the blocks were much more interesting.
You guys….those eyes! ^^
I gifted myself these awesome socks from East of Embers to pair with all my beer drinking.
Wes was pretty excited to unwrap all the presents on Christmas morning, but I think his highlight of the day was throwing all the wrapping paper away. Who needs toys.

I swear this kid dresses way better than me. I only changed out of my pajamas to go to the gym!

We headed to the newly opened YeeHaw play place for Wes to check out. He was in absolute heaven and was go go go for 2 hours! He climbed and jumped and bounced and went down all the slides. We will definitely be going back there many times since it’s pretty close to home and a nice, clean facility.
And then there were a ton of days where we just did plain old NOTHING. I have to admit that while it feels good to have zero things on the agenda, it can get a bit frustrating! The weather was way too cold to go for outdoor excursions and I can’t fathom mall walking this time of year, so there were lots of books read and imaginary games played. And long naps taken.

We had gone to Costco (actually SEVERAL times) and Wes picked out Boom Chicka Pop and Pickles. Good thing he loves both.
I was called off work on Friday night, so Tyler and I took advantage of the built in babysitters and headed to the local watering hole to check out the beer and food.
The verdict? It was delicious! We will definitely be going back in the future…if ever we get a babysitter.
NYE was spent lounging around the house and being as lazy as possible. Wes was the only one who got out of his jammies!

That smile gets me every time.
We rounded out the year with a delicious Pizza made by Chef Tyler and were obviously in bed before midnight because who parties? No one.
That indoor play place looks like SO much fun – How I wish there was something like that here, We are in serious cabin fever mode.
Wes, as always – is so cute. 🙂
Sounds like a great Christmas and New Year. Wes is getting so big! Are your parents still visiting?
