Weekend Recap

I knew I should have typed this up as soon as the weekend was wrapping up….because I totally forgot what we did. Let’s see how good this memory is for me….

FRIDAY: Wes and I headed to Chinook mall and walked around for a few hours. I also checked out a new/used kids store. We had pizza for dinner. I think that’s it?

SATURDAY: I got up pretty early with Wes and we did his morning routine before I headed out to get my hair done! I went to my stylist’s house for the appointment because she’s also on mat leave and it was a great few hours. Not only did I get some time out of the house, but I left with a fresh new color/cut. I picked up a couple bottles of wine on the way home then putzed around for the rest of the day. We watched Focus then called it a relatively early night.

SUNDAY: Wes was a sleep machine! after a 6ish wakeup, he was up again around 9, then passed out on my lap for a few more hours! This is when I demonstrated REAL strength- I had to pee for the 2 1/2 hours he slept on me and I held it the entire time. As soon as Tyler came in the room, I passed him off!

photo 4-27

I had a friend and her daughter come over in the afternoon and we did some Father’s Day crafts while Tyler worked on cleaning up his truck to sell. It was a great few hours of crafts and conversation. We rounded out the weekend with Game of Thrones–> immmm BIG finale episode!!! PS: Tyler sold his truck yesterday, so we’re finally down to 2 family-friendly vehicles!

See you tomorrow for Winesday Wednesday…where I take a 2 minute break to NOT take pictures of Wes or talk about Wes or anything baby related!

Weekend Recap

Hey friends! This weekend wasn’t really full of events or anything, but I still loved it. (so weird, normally when it’s gorgeous weather I NEED to have plans!)

On Friday, Wes and I walked TWO different malls. An outing for him…racking up fitbit steps for me! For dinner, I picked up some steaks which Tyler cooked on the BBQ along with baked potatoes and garlicky mushrooms. YUM. Then….Wes slept through the night! Tyler and I high fived each other when we woke it. It was glorious.

highfive

Saturday, we went to Home Depot, test drove a car, cleaned the patio, mowed the lawn (<—that one was all me), walked the dogs and suffered through about 3 hours of nonstop crying. To clarify, it was Wes doing the crying. He still managed to go down at 11:30 and didn’t get up for the day until 10:30. To clarify, Tyler and I also slept until 10:30. Sure, there are like 4957049 things we could have done, but hot DANG sleep won that battle.

Sunday, we started the day with bacon and eggs. It’s pretty much the best way to start every Sunday in my opinion. I hung out with Wes and did some house stuff & worked out while Tyler played football. We had chicken kebobs on the BBQ for dinner and well….that’s it.

See? Nothing super fancy to report, but it was great weather and we’re all still alive. SUCCESS.

Other random tidbits:

  • I committed the ultimate party foul the other day: I fed Wes then immediately poured myself a glass of sangria and began making chocolate chip cookies. BUT, the kid did NOT want to sleep so I had to cover the glass with foil and put it back in the fridge. SUPER SAD FACE Y’ALL
  • On one of our walks, Reggie stuck his head through someone’s fence and didn’t want to continue walking. Since I’m a weirdo and talk to my dogs when were out for walks, I said to him “don’t be such a snoopy dog.’ And then I started laughing out loud because Snoopy is a beagle. Oh my God, how much of a loser am I?
  • I finished week 3 of T25 Alpha! I’m pretty much back to the intensity I was at pre-pregnancy except for some of the plank work..still building up to that. I’ve also been walking the dogs a bit longer each day (around 3ish miles) and Wes gained even MORE weight so carrying him around still overrides any dumbbell workout I’d typically do. Around 15k steps each day according to my fitbit. Sa-weet.

Hope you had a good weekend!

Weekend Recap

I’m going to type this as quickly as possible because I *think* Wes is on the verge of a scream fest…

So this weekend was pretty fun! On Friday, we went to Costco to stock up on everything and watched The Gambler. Not super exciting, but it was a pretty sweet family outing even if it was only to spend a month’s salary on bulk items.

Saturday morning was pretty lazy around the house, but then we had friends over for dinner! I managed to splurge on a glass of honey sangria too. #winning. Wes was well-behaved the whole night minus one or two screams.

Despite staying up until 1am, we got a decent amount of sleep.

Sunday morning was another lazy morning.

Please excuse my grody face. Just look at the cute baby.

In the afternoon, we headed over to a friend’s house for a BBQ. Wes was PERFECT. He slept the whole time, minus a feed. Actually, I’m pretty sure he slept through that too. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I think he enjoyed the fresh air for a few hours *noting that for future reference.

When we got home, I walked the dogs and squeezed in a pretty late workout. Since I wasn’t too tired, I stayed up while Wes was in the mamaroo so that I could give him a late night feed before moving him to his crib. Good idea on my part, because he ate pretty fast and was out like a light.

Yesterday (monday) was a great Wes and Me day. He slept while I made muffins and did some chores around the house. When he woke, I figured he might want some more fresh air, so I threw (no I did not actually throw him) in the stroller and went for a 40 minute walk. I was a sweaty beast by the end of it, and he was babbling in his sleep for the last 10 minutes.

The rest of the afternoon he was AWAKE so my focus was on him. Then Tyler came home from work and I took the dogs for a 45 minute walk, we watched this week’s episode of GOT, and I did my workout. HERE’S MY FAVORITE MOMENT YET: Wes went to bed at 11:30, woke up at 4:40 to feed, back to sleep 20 minutes later, and slept until 9am. THAT GAVE ME LIKE 8 HOURS OF SLEEP. Even my fitbit app told me so.

Here’s to hoping this becomes a trend!

Other random tidbits:

  • I will be temporarily removing green smoothies from my breakfast rotation after witnessing one of Wes’s recent diapers. GROSS. #lookedlikeagreensmoothie
  • I have completed the 2nd week of T25 Alpha and am on my 3rd! Love that I can do these workouts super quick and still spend time with the boys since Tyler is usually holding Wes on the couch right next to me while I do the DVDs.
  • They need to cancel The Bachelor/Bachelorette series like NOW. The show is just so damn bad. Yet I watch every season. Barf.

Time to go wash barf and green smoothie poops out of clothes…

Late Weekend Recap

In case you’re wondering what I’ve been up to lately, it’s only really been one thing: trying to keep a baby alive. Holy hell is it time consuming or what?! The days are pretty easy, but it’s getting him used to the nighttime schedule that has been the absolute pits. I think mostly because I’m tired + I’m convinced I’m doing it wrong + it’s kinda scary and lonely being up alone at night trying to figure out the whole baby thing. And don’t get me started on when I google all things baby on the internet, because it leaves me feeling even MORE confused and overwhelmed and anxious and any other similar adjective.

Good thing my mom is here.

She has really helped take over when I reach my breaking point and just start crying for no reason (see? I am crying now. Mostly because I’m convinced my child hates me. That’s normal, right? Because he seems to settle when anyone else makes an attempt. Except for me)

Ok, so on to actual things we did over the past few days. Note: Must type fast so I can squeeze in a nap before baby wakes up

Friday: Whitney came over to take a bunch of pics of Wes. I am DYING to see all the photos. She was really great with him and I would pay her to come over everyday to swaddle him. She already posted a sneak peak on Facebook and I’ve been staring at it nonstop.

That night, Tyler and I went to The Keg for dinner to celebrate our anniversary/first week of baby. We told the waiter, but he didn’t give us a free dessert…so that sucked. We did order a bottle of wine and I had a glass but felt so guilty about it and now I’m afraid to drink because I’m paranoid about passing it to the baby. Among other unknown guilt feelings.

Saturday: I think we did nothing? I don’t remember. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I stayed in my jammies all day and fed/changed/burped a baby. Maybe I showered. Definitely didn’t sleep. There was a hockey game on TV at some point. My mind is so fuzzy.

Sunday: After a lovely feast of bacon and eggs, my mom and I took Wes to Cross Iron Mills (outlet/regular mall combo). Yeah, BAD IDEA. Everyone from the city of Calgary was there. I don’t do well with crowds. Especially when 95% of said crowd was comprised of unruly children. We squeaked out with a few outfits for Wes then came home to a nice steak dinner. After feasting on a caramel apple, of course (we split just one of those. Guess how much they cost? $9 EACH. Insane)

photo 1-52

{insert 60 minute break to feed/bathe Wes. Naked new babies are really cute}

Monday: Again, not too much to report. I started the day with some peanut butter banana protein pancakes. NOMSOHARD.

photo 2-49

For six silver-dollar sized pancakes:

  • 3/4 c oats
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3/4 c greek yogurt
  • 2 T peanut butter
  • 1/2 banana

Add first 4 ingredients to immersion blender until smooth. Pour batter on hot skillet and top with thin slices of banana. Flip. Top with maple syrup. Jam into face hole.

My mom and I then took Wes to Market Mall and bought OURSELVES some makeup. #treatyoself. Although I’m dying a little on the inside at how much it all cost. Whatever.

photo 3-39

Which brings us to today. PHEW. Wes is on somewhat of a schedule (eat, change, activity, sleep. REPEAT A BILLIONTY TIMES). And we’ve managed to have him sleep in his crib at night which is apparently a miracle? Although I’m glued to the monitor the hole night since I’m convinced he will be stolen or something.

How was your weekend??

Weekend Recap

Hey there! On to another week! To recap the last few days

photo-48

Thursday: My parent’s flight was delayed a ton of times, so they ended up not making it to Calgary on Thursday. Womp.

Friday: I picked up my parents from the airport around noon, dropped them off at home, then headed to my doctor appt. Per usual, everything checked out perfect- now I’m just beyond ready to get this baby out!!! O.U.T. We headed to Brewsters for an early dinner, then called it an early night since my parents got no sleep at O’hare the night before.

Saturday: Took the puppies to get their annual exams. Cough cough $450 dollars later cough cough. Ugh, not a good time to be on short term disability and be taking home a smaller pay check. We just hung out at the house the rest of the day and watched Taken 3 and The Wedding Ringer before bed.

photo 1-48

Sunday: Mom and I got pedicures! I only get them like once a year, so it felt great to have a mini pamper-session and make sure my toes look somewhat presentable before they’ll be flailing in the air during childbirth. We all watched the Masters for the rest of the afternoon and Tyler made beer can chicken for dinner.

photo 2-46

photo 3-38

Kind of a low-key weekend so my parents could catch up on some rest (not to mention, they’re both sick)

PS: I am not ashamed to admit that in 11 days I watched Seasons 1-5 of Parenthood. Which just so happens to be 90 episodes. What to watch next…
