Weekend Recap

Friday

  • Stopped by another quilt shop in Calgary for my mom then headed to Chinook mall to wander around. My mom bought me a pair of really sweet pants. WINNING.
  • Wes got some goodies in the mail from his Oma (Tyler’s mom). The kid drools like a fountain so the extra bibs were great to get!
  • We all headed to Lowe’s and Bass Pro to get some stuff, but left empty handed. We had dinner at the food court before heading home.
  • It was the one year anniversary of finding out I was pregnant with Wes. And I thought I just had the stomach flu! Haha

Saturday

  • We drove to Drumheller and went to the Royal Tyrrell Museum. (aka: DINOS!)
  • Stopped at Home Depot on the way home and managed to get exactly what we needed from our unsuccessful trip the day before. (A ceiling fan and some stuff for the smoker Tyler bought)
  • Ordered pizza for dinner and watched Fast and Furious 7. Holy shit what a terrible movie.

Sunday

  • Mom made maple muffins. YUM
  • Lots of boring chores were done around the house. YUCK
  • Tyler made another AMAZING dinner.

In the 2 weeks my mom has been here, we’ve been able to check off quite a bit on the to do/to see list AND there has been a ton off hanging around the house time. I’m also still doing the 21 Day Fix workouts and will be incorporating a couple of spin classes in the next couple of weeks before leaving for NY. I might do a recap of the workouts since a few people expressed interest- my thoughts on this and the EXTREME program are a bit scattered so hopefully I’ll be able to get it out in a somewhat cohesive post.

Ok, I’m tired. Tell me something random in the comments!

(PS: sorry for not responding to any comments on previous posts. I read them, I promise! Just haven’t found the time or energy to respond. Lame excuse, I know.)

Weekend Recap

Well, I waited too long again to do a weekend recap because I have no idea what we did this weekend. Hell, I don’t even remember this morning. I have been pretty sucky at taking pictures this week so even those aren’t helping to jog my memory. Here goes…

Friday: I made pancakes for breakfast and my mom made a cake (totally a belated bday cake and it’s my FAVORITE). We wandered off to Winners to shop then headed to Cochrane for a quilt pattern my mom wanted to pick up. Plus, we wanted to browse the shops, have lunch, and enjoy some local ice cream. Slight change in plans once we got there- my mom got her pattern but we couldn’t really hit up many of the shop since they weren’t stroller friendly. Also, some NASTY clouds started to roll in and we didn’t want to get stuck on a patio in the rain so we opted to head home for lunch. After a quick nap on grandma, us adults had pizza for dinner then hit the hay.

Saturday: We had to get up super early because Wes had an 8am appointment for his 4-month shots. Stupid me for booking an appointment at that time because we actually had to wake him up. GRRRR. He ate pretty quick, and we headed over and got the whole thing done in about 45 minutes. He cried when he got the shots but quickly calmed down and slept for a few hours on TWO different occasions throughout the day.

Afterwards, I attempted to take photos of Wes for his 4 month update then we went to Costco. It was also my last day doing the 21 day fix EXTREME and I celebrated with a beer. (OK, two beers). And fajitas. Because….well, fajitas are delicious.

We managed to watch Hot Pursuit before going to bed.

Sunday: Again, not a super exciting day to round out the weekend. We had sausage and eggs for breakfast, I took Wes for a long walk around the neighborhood, and we ate ribs for dinner. There may have also been some wine involved, but I’ll chat about that on Wednesday.

Weekend Recap

This is going to be SUPER boring.

Friday: Took Wes for a REALLY long walk in the morning before it got too hot out. Ended up going about 5 miles and wound up just hanging around the house for the rest of the afternoon. Pizza for dinner and an episode of True Detective before I fell asleep.

Saturday: Family trip to Costco the went over to a friends house for the evening.

Sunday: Went to Tyler’s football game. It was HOT and BUGGY and it was in the middle of an industrial park so it was not stroller/walk friendly. Epic chicken kebabs for dinner and a butt-ton of laundry.

I have really sucked at taking any photos that do not include Wes. Must get on that.

I am tired.

I am sore.

The end.

Weekend Recap

I love love love long weekends. The extra day off (ok, well only off for Tyler) allows us to get way more done around the house AND have a little bit of relax-time!

Friday: I took Wes to Crossroads Market. I had never been to this farmer’s market before and was excited to see what they had to offer and how they compared to the others in Calgary. PLUS, Tyler messaged me saying he saw an ad in the paper that Taber corn was back! Yum..local corn= THE BEST. I ended up getting a bunch of corn, chocolate chip cookie dough fudge, BC peaches and some bison burger patties.

Tyler made steak for dinner and all was well with the world.

Saturday: We headed down to Inglewood for Sunfest. It was awesome weather and I was really excited for the three of us to get out of the house together, but the fest was the same as every other one we’ve been to before so we only did a quick lap and left. We attempted to have lunch at one of the restaurants, but they had no more shaded seating.

We opted to head to Craft for lunch. We were practically the only people in there which was for the better since Wes decided to be a bit vocal. I’m guessing if the place was full no one would have noticed, but we were able to grab lunch and a beer and get out of there in under an hour.

The sun and the afternoon beer knocked us both out, so Tyler and I took turns taking naps when we got home. I also managed to do my workout before we settled down to watch a couple episodes of True Detectives.

Sunday: Tyler had daddy duty while I headed out to Canmore with Susie to hike Ha Ling. Funny story: we did this hike in August of last year and I was a few weeks pregnant and had no idea! Explains the fatigue. This time, it was MUCH easier to climb. I think it’s about 2.5 miles and 2,500 ft climb? Something like that. Beautiful view at the top.

As we got towards the top- there’s a portion of scrambling and you can see and hear people having difficulty with their footing since it can get a bit tricky. The really brave will shuffle their way down (not my cup of tea since my center of gravity is pretty high). A few passed us as we were still climbing and one girl was gaining so much speed she lost control and totally face planted right in front of us. She was covered in dust and had scrapes all over her arms and legs and we quickly went to help her up. The excitement/fear of the fall caused her to freak out and she was convinced she broke both ankles, but we tried to calm her down and eventually her friend caught up and assured her she was fine. A) That was scary B) I tried to cheer her up by mentioning that her manicure still looked great.

When I got home, we had bison burgers for dinner and watched a few episodes of Ballers. (Anyone watching this? I love it!)

Monday: I made Tyler chocolate chip pancakes then handed him the baby so I could do my 21 day fix extreme workout for the day (1 of 2 since I didn’t do the designated workout on Sunday. Had to double up!) We did a ton of house-stuff, I took Wes for a long walk, did my second 21dfx workout, took the dogs for a long walk, then ate a fajita wrap. The end.

How was your weekend?

Weekend Recap

A day late and a dollar (actually more than one dollar. Lots of dollars. Anyone want to spare me some change?) short.

Friday: After our usual morning routine, I took Wes to a bunch of stores to basically just walk around and kill time. I didn’t want to chance an outdoor walk with him because it was pretty cloudy. Once Tyler got home, he made us calzones for dinner and we managed to only plow through 20 minutes of an episode of True Detective before calling it a night. SO EXCITING I KNOW.

IMG_6800

Saturday: I don’t remember much of Saturday morning. Wes and I just hung out while Tyler ran some errands. In the afternoon, we headed over to a friend’s house for dinner. There were 6 adults and 6 kiddos. They are taking over, I tell ya! We snapped a family pic before we left.

IMG_6808

By the time we got home and got Wes to bed, it was too late for us to consider any adult time. Bed it was! (Man, these weekends are sounding pretty boring, huh?!)

Sunday: Crap. I already forget Sunday. Laundry. Food…..Oh, and I started the 21 Day Fix EXTREME workout program. I’ll wait until I at least do the first full week before I let you all know how I feel about it.

IMG_6818

Tyler made carne asada for dinner and I rounded out the evening with a nice soak in the tub with a cider and Netflix.

I think this coming weekend will be a bit more eventful…so maybe that recap post will be more interesting to read.
