Oh hey there. I have approximately zero desire to be on my computer on vacation, but I figured I should check in really quick and announce the winner of the Love Child Organics Giveaway! But first, here are some photos with what we’ve been up to the past few days…
Friday: I walked Wes to the library to play, but we didn’t luck out so much. There was a woman, her mother, and two unruly children already in the toddler room and I didn’t know if it would be a good idea to let Wes interact with them. (Judgy, I know.) But I was pretty right with my instincts because as soon as I was putting Wes back in the stroller, the presumed father of said children came barging in the room and said “Well, I don’t know if I’m gonna pass my f*cking drug test today” HAHAHAHA So yeah, glad I left.
As we were walking out, we actually ran into my dad so we opted to hit the local coffee place and hangout for a bit.
Wes had a blast jumping on the couch and snuggling up with my dad for a while.
That night, my friend Amy picked me up for what I thought would be a quiet dinner just the two of us. We really needed to catch up AND chat wedding business. Plus, she brought over my bridesmaids dress and [insert googly eyes here] it’s gorgeous.
Turns out, it was a little surprise bday bash for ME and some of the other bridesmaids were already waiting at the restaurant. Man did I feel special. She choose to have dinner at Henry Street Taproom since she knows my love for beer and it was extremely delicious!
FYI: I didn’t care for a single beer in this tasting flight, but did LOVE the Omnipollo Aniara that one of the other girls was drinking, so I opted for a pint of that with dinner.
Over the course of the evening, I was sung Happy Birthday THREE TIMES by different people. I seriously can’t stress enough how special I felt to have people go out of their way to celebrate me. It didn’t hurt that the food, beer and company were all pretty fantastic too!
Saturday: My mom, Wes and I ran a bunch of errands then stopped at the summer kickoff party for Common Roots Brewing Company. We both had the Burly Monk BPA and it was out of this world. There was live music and a food truck, so we sat outside and listened to some tunes before opting for a shadier spot indoors and noshing on some moss sticks with our beer.
The afternoon and evening were pretty low key since Wes has been napping like a freaking CHAMP all week. I don’t want to jinx it, but he has been going down in the pack n play without so much of a whimper every night and napping a cumulative 3 hours each day. See? More reason not to go back to Calgary.
My parents really prepped for our visit by getting lots of toys ready for Wes and he’s loved all of them. I think his favorite is the mini pool- we’ve been spending hours in the backyard while he splashes.
Sunday: As far as a can remember, we didn’t do much. There was a lot of pool time, hanging out, and grocery shopping. By the end of the day, I was pretty restless (I have no idea how I’m not getting that many steps this week- I feel like all I’m doing is going going going) so I decided to go for a solo walk. It was a great way to stretch out my legs, get some MORE fresh air, and get myself in a better mood.
ALSO: If you’re on Untappd, friend me! My username is Jlinton. I totally forgot about this app but have recently started using it again 🙂
Monday: MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR! I can’t stress enough how much I love the first week in July- Canada Day, 4th of July, my birthday, Calgary Stampede….so chalk full of good stuff.
I’ve been pretty on top of getting my workout done every day while we’re here (I’m currently doing Insanity) but my serious lack in steppage made me really want to get in a nice long walk first thing in the morning. I popped Wes in the stroller, grabbed my Shakeology and we headed out. There was a 30 minute detour to the park so I could push Wes in the swings- HE’S OBSESSED- then he fell asleep while I walked a bit more around town before heading home.
By the time the afternoon hit, we were all back in the backyard around the mini pool and before you know it, it was was time to get the BBQ going for dinner. I requested hot dogs, macaroni salad and angel food cake for dessert. I also enjoyed two more new-to-me beers that I loved!
We walked back to the park after dinner (for the swings!) and Wes was about .2 seconds away from conking out right in his seat. PS: If you follow me on snapchat, you’d see my mom’s excellent snap-taking skills.
Lots of time spent outdoors, yummy beer & food, and family time have really made the past few days the best!
