Homework

Hi. I am super sore today. Like, holy hell DOMS.

I started yesterday’s workout with about 10 minutes of kickboxing, then I did Tina’s Burpee Blaster workout.

I finished up with a few sets of single legged hammer curl/row combos and stability ball extensions. And some abs.

For my entire sweaty session, I listened to the FitFluential Radio Station on FitRadio. If you’ve never heard of FitRadio, I really encourage you to check it out. For my entire 60 minute workout, a continuous remix played and I loved every single minute. In fact, they even have remixes to music that’s not geared towards workouts. Right now I’m listening to the Between the Sheets station (it’s great, but I can’t help but giggle. Doing ‘it’ to remixed slow jams just seems like a bad Lifetime movie to me).

Anyways.

By the end, I looked g-ross

Then, it was homework time. If you didn’t know, I am STILL in grad school. I started a year after undergrad, but I was so busy with my full-time job, teaching at the Y, studying for my ACSM certified personal trainer exam, traveling, and LIFE that I am finally on my 3rd to last class. I decided to take my last elective (or as I like to call them: fun) class during the summer, so that come fall/winter, I will be miserable indoors not only because of the weather, but because I will be finishing up with Managerial Economics and Operations Management (as if I didn’t suffer through them already in undergrad! woof). Then: Masters Degree.

Hopefully around the same time, I will get my PR card here so that I can finally WORK. And because I’ll be all educated and whatnot, people will want to pay me MORE. (lots of caps in this post. gotta emphasize stuff)

Back to the homework bit.

I am frugal in my paper consumption, so I used the back side of my workout to take notes on the Freudian Personality Theory. Because that’s normal. Whatever, I got to write about marketing sports cars and fine chocolates.

On a different note. Tyler has been selling a lot of his stuff on Kijiji lately (for you American folk, that’s Canadian for Craigslist). Let me make a correction: Tyler posts the stuff, talks with people who are interested, then has ME do the dirty work of the actual exchange of goods. This morning, I sat on the front porch for 10 minutes while some guys inspected a paintball gun. I didn’t even know how much Tyler wanted for it. Good thing I’m awesome and made the sale at the right price.

EVERYONE HOLD THE PHONE.

I just checked my mail. And I got a card. From Athena. For my birthday. And look what was inside:

Pretty much the best gift this girl could ever get. Thanks so much, Athena!!!!

Now, I’m off to meet up with some guy to sell yet ANOTHER one of Tyler’s things. Oy.

***(I got my Foodie Pen Pal package yesterday and it’s AWESOME! But, I can’t post about it until July 31st. Stay tuned!)***

Question: Anyone have requests for an upcoming post? Anything you want me to write about? Otherwise, the next post might be an entire scene from Anchorman. I’m not kidding.

I’m just gonna get right to it…

Vacation Burn Workout

Oh Hey.

Just got back from Banff/Lake Louise with Tyler and my parents and the Margarita machine is about to be put into action. BUT FIRST. I thought I would share my latest gym workout with everyone. My arms were a-hunka-hunka-BURNIN’-love afterwards. (Since my parents arrived last week, I have managed to get in a workout about every other day. On days a don’t have an ‘official’ workout, I have been walking walking walking and still sweating sweating sweating.

Vacation Burn Workout

Round 1

  • Single leg hammer curl x12
  • Curtsy lunge with bicep curl x12

(then switch and do the same thing to the other side)

  • Lateral raise x12
  • Front raise x12
  • Overhead press x12
  • Weighted split squat x12

60 seconds of alternating toe taps/jump rope

Round 2

10 minutes HIIT (same as above- I did the elliptical this time)

…if you REALLY push yourself, this workout will really get you good ‘n sweaty.

I leave you with some pics from the day:

Started with a 5:30am walk/run with the pup

And of course she rolled. And rolled. And rolled. I will only bore you with one of the 5203957 pictures I took of the event:

Now for some pretty mountain pictures. I took more of them on my camera, so I will post them as soon as I am margarita free.

Kinda so pretty it looks fake, huh? And that’s just the side of the road. Wait till you see some of the gorgeous pics of the water!

And last (for this post):

Cocktail time. I’m out.

**PS: I wrote a Guest Post for Athena over at Fitness & Feta which she featured yesterday. Thanks, Athena!

All Aboard the Random Train

I actually jotted down everything as it came to me so that I could have a nice, authentic, random post.

-“Build a house up on that ass, that’s as ass-tate”- quite possibly the funniest lyric I’ve heard in a long (ass) time.

-Lately, I have gotten into the habit of brushing my teeth before I workout. Not sure why.

-Here are the recent adds to my iTunes library:

Layla and I took another walk to the pet store for a cookie

She was happy

-I went to the gym with the intention of a treadmill-only workout. Instead, I did 30 minutes on the running machine, then 22 on the spin bike. Yeah, and I was that a-hole at the gym that accidentally unscrewed the seat when I was adjusting it, making it crash all over the place. And people stared. Whatever. I did HIIT on the bike: 90 seconds moderate work with 30 seconds high intensity (and I cranked the resistance). Pretty good calorie burn.

This is a hilarious thing I found on the internets today. Seriously, people do weird things to make money.

-I Skyped with my parents yesterday while they were in Vegas. And by Skype, I mean, my mom video called me and we could see each other, but my parents couldn’t hear me. It was hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing, but they couldn’t hear it.

– I have been watching the US Olympic swimming trials the past few days. My favorite part is when they get ready to swim and they do that silly arm flapping/swinging/hugging stretch. I seriously cannot get enough of it. As a matter of fact, AS I’M TYPING THIS, I just witnessed it again!

Dinner time. Ciao.

Pinteresting

Who cares about what I did this morning. Because really, it was boring.

This afternoon, however, was a different story. I got in a stellar workout. And I did it all from the convenience of my own living room. Bing Bang Boom.

Check out my sweet outfit (the top is my purchase from Lululemon yesterday!)

Ah, this shirt perfectly displays my back. My favorite part of my body. Now, let me make a clear distinction: I like my back. NOT my backside. Backside includes the tush. Boo.

And the front of the shirt:

My workout was a nice mix of strength and cardio. The cardio was kickboxing. And the strength was comprised of this little set (which I found on Pinterest. You can follow me at jtougas. And while we’re at it, you can follow me on twitter/instagram @nutcaseinpoint):

So, I did this once through, 20 mins of kix, another run through of the strength, then 15 more mins of kix. Solid hour workout.

And do you know what’s best after a workout?

That’s right. BEER. And not just any beer. Sam Adams Summer Ale. MY FAVEY. Sam Adams people, if you’re reading this, feel free to send me samples. I will gladly accept. Thanks!

And now I’m going to attempt some homework. Haha, probably not. But I feel more studious just saying it.

What’s your favorite beer?
