Hey guys! Happy Monday! I’m typing this on Sunday night and HOLY SH*T have I been a stress ball all day. Way too many factors have been giving me anxiety and I was just busting at the seams all day. Thank goodness I’m now sitting down and taking a peak at some of the photos I got of my handsome little dude throughout the week..
Monday: I got Wes dressed rather proper for the day. We didn’t have anything special on the agenda other than the gym and running some errands, but it sure as heck cheered me up…as well as some people we saw along the way.

(Bow tie from Will & Co)

I had to work on Monday night (ewwwwwww), but managed to make a delicious batch of homemade mac and cheese before I was off. It was freaking delicious. Freaking.

Tuesday: Again, nothing major. Went to the gym (for my mock interview), we hung around the house for the day, then I went back to the gym that night for a 10/10/10 class.

It snowed as we were leaving the house in the morning, so we hung out in the front yard for a few extra minutes so Wes could ‘play.’

(Scarf by Wild Roots & Co)

We built a chair fort in the living room and Wes discovered candy. And so it begins..

Wednesday: Wes and I ran errands to get a few little things to decorate the house with. I actually got dressed and rocked my twinning scarf that Wes also has! I get that the point is to wear them at the same time, but I march to the beat of a different drum. But seriously, check out Jordana’s shop– she’s slowly coming out with more and more items that she makes herself and they are fantastic quality.
I rounded out the day with a Hot Barre class and came home to start studying for my Fitness Instructor exam.

Thursday: I can’t remember anything other than going to the circuit bootcamp in the morning then meeting up with Susie downtown at Trolley 5 for some good ol’ conversation and beer. The conversation: GREAT. The beer: ALSO GREAT. (The ribs….not so much, but beer wins in my books!)

Friday: Took a tabata class in the AM then hung out with my man before work. A shift that was entirely sucky if I might add. I serve at a brewpub and only made $14. ARGH
This guy wore his crown all day and even jumped in his bouncy castle with it! #king

^ his face when I tell him to ‘cheese’

Saturday: I went into town to get my teeth cleaned and ran a few errands before heading back home to hang out before work. My kid is already double fisting, so it’s true that they do imitate everything you do. HA

PS: As much as I’m trying to decorate with nice pieces, my house will never look nice. There are too many toys and dogs and not enough hands or hours in the day to give a flying f&#$.
I was only at work for a few hours and managed to have a significantly better night than Friday, so that put me in a better mood.

Sunday: Didn’t consist of much. I spent most of the morning studying (and ripping my freaking hair out because of how annoying and in-depth the material is. Did I mention that I NEVER want to have to take a test for anything ever again in my life?!!! It is no fun. Zero.) Then it was time to head over to Oranj (my current gym) to have a private group class with some of the girls from the blog squad…more info and pics on that to come later this week!
And that’s just some of the goodies from the week. Chat soon!
Hi friends, I’m here! Whoa, I feel like I have so much to share and I have no idea where to start. SO- let’s purge a ton of photos from the past week and see where that gets me, ok? Mmmk..

Rewinding back to Monday: I made a batch of homemade au gratin potatoes to go with honey garlic chicken and steamed asparagus for dinner. It was an easy meal to put together before heading off to work for the evening WHICH was super slow, but I opted to stay longer and wound up making a tiny bit of $$. Yay!
I also finally got my first pair of Lularoe leggings in the mail from my mom. I was able to snag a pair for her and myself while I was home last month and had them delivered to her house in NY. The verdict: YEAH, they’re buttery soft and come in tons of super fun prints but I gotta admit I love me some compression leggings. You know, to suck it all in. These are one size leggings so they give a ton and make me feel wiggly jiggly when I walk. I’d still buy more though because they’re cute.

Tuesday: Wes had his 18 month shots in the morning, so I dressed him in his Superhero pants to be strong 😉 Turns out he didn’t even cry during the shots and didn’t want a bandaid either! I have a big, strong boy. I say big because he weighs 28 lbs and measures 33.5″ tall. His charts show he’s between the 90th-100th percentile for all his measurements.

I took Wes to the bookstore afterwards for a couple of books as a reward for doing so well at his appointment and he had way too much fun checking out all the books and toys. It was really hard to get him out of there but we did manage to find 2 good books.

Oh, and it was election day. I don’t even want to comment about it. PS: This hat is a JOKE people. I tried to stay up at late as I could to see the results, but only made it until 12:30…Good thing I didn’t waste any more precious sleep time to see the outcome. grr

Wednesday: I used to eat my smoothie bowls before Wes would get up, but now that I know he loves them so much, I wait. Because: baby chocolate smoothie mouth is adorable. DANGEROUS TO NEW FURNITURE. But adorable.

And the kid is absolutely obsessed with his pups.

We met up with a new neighbour friend for a coffee date and Wes managed to last 2 hours at Starbucks! I really did luck out with such a good kid. We headed to the library after for some kid-friendly time.

Burgers for dinner, which of course everyone loves. PS: I ate a burger THEN went to a Hot Barre class. #machine.

Thursday: Nothing too exciting. Gym and grocery shopping. At least my kid looked cute. PLUS- he’s really starting to love his time at childcare while I’m working out. It makes me so happy to see he’s socializing while I can get a little bit of me time.

Free grocery store cookies are the best!

We made a batch of my favorite chocolate chip cookies when we got home and I ate them in a bubble bath while Wes napped. So obviously Thursday was rough. I started watching The Crown on Netflix and I like it so far.
Here’s a secret: I took a bath every single day last week. Do you have any idea how much of a sanity saver it is? Granted there are a TON of things I could/should be doing around the house, but I am relishing the quiet time and pampering myself. Also, it’s a great way to warm up with I get that chilled-to-the-bone feeling.

We got a Nespresso machine recently, so I’ve been enjoying baths WITH a delicious fancy cup of coffee everyday. I swear these have impacted my mood for the better.

Tyler came home with an assortment of new beers to try, so my evening was just as rough. I mean, I married the right guy (for me). I bake, he buys beer. win win win win win.

Friday: Since Tyler had the day off, we ran a bunch of errands. AKA: Lowe’s, the mall, Costco. Super exciting.

[Romper: Archer and Antlers]

And Canadian Tire so Tyler could pick up some different Xmas lights for the exterior of the house. Wes fell in love with a wreath and wore it around his neck throughout the store.

Exceedingly good weather calls for taking advantage of mid-November park trips. He’s starting to really love the slide, but there were some older kids there that did NOT know how to share so it made it difficult to enjoy.

I picked up another assortment of beers to try while Tyler cooked us a steak dinner. NOMS.

Saturday: Morning lounging and snacking before I headed to work. I was only there for about 90 minutes which sucked because I wanted to make some money, BUT, it was nice because I got more of the day to hang out with my guys.

[Cabin booties: Will&Co]

Sunday: I had to work again. BOO. But at least I got to spend some QT with my main man while I got ready. After work, I did a quick workout in our basement (Wes participated in squats and jumps and supervised the rest) then we headed over to friends (cough cough and NEIGHBORS) house for pizza.
I’m getting back into teaching group fitness and have an interview this week (interview by means of teaching a class) so I spent a majority of the evening practicing and planning the format. I’m really excited to get back into it but also a bit nervous since I have to re-certify here in Canada and I HATE taking exams. The theory and practical aren’t until next month and I’m sure I’ll do fine, but still. ANXIOUS.

Ah crap, I think I left out like a billionty things. Note to self: jot down notes of things I want to share.
Whoa, Halloween was a week ago already? Last week marked my first full week attending classes at Oranj fitness (more on the studio to come!) and I have been loving them. I’m still trying to take a ton of different classes to see which I like best and what I can fit in my schedule: It’s been everything from tabata to bootcamp to kickboxing to hot barre…. the list goes on!
I’ve also been really loving that they offer free childcare so I made sure to dress Wes a bit festive for the occasion..

I actually had Wes wear his pumpkin costume that I got for him last year. He was still teeny tiny then and we didn’t go trick or treating, so it was money well saved. He had a blast going from house to house collecting candy and waving to the people as we left. I managed to stay out with him for an hour before it got dark and chilly out.

Most of the houses in our neighborhood have young kids, so tons of houses just left buckets of candy on their porches. It sorta defeated the purpose of the evening, but for Wes it was still exciting!

He used my trick or treat bag from when I was little!

The dogs kept a close eye on our candy sorting.

Bath time is fun time! Especially to warm up after a nippy walk around the block.

^^^ 1-800-GRUMP. Man oh man was he fussy that day. It stinks when it’s too cold to go outside (cough cough SNOW) so we really only went to the gym and ran a bunch of errands. Cabin fever is a really stinker when you’ve got a crank pants toddler.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving!

Friday after the gym we went to the Airdrie Christmas Market. It was pretty small, but there was some neat vendors and I managed to get some early Xmas gifts.

Luckily, there was a playground nearby so we stretched our legs outside a bit.

Saturday morning we were up and at ’em early and headed down to Bowness Park for a mini family photo shoot! Our photographer sent us a sneak peak and I am anxiously awaiting to rest. It was cold out which made for a bit of a challenge when trying to keep Wes happy, but I think it went really well and we ended up having a lot of fun with it.

I’m hoping to check back in again this week to share some beer…or some other goodies? Who knows. See you then!
Wait wait wait, I think I said I’d start doing a bit better by actually writing things rather than photo dump. BUT GUESS WHAT?? Here we are, and I have no time for words. Just photos. Maybe some words…scroll on to see what we’ve been up to over the past week!

Last Monday was our lat night in New York. We hung around most of the day before heading out to a delicious dinner that included GUAC. One of Wes’s tricks includes going into downward dog every time I ask him to do yoga. Good kid.

The tacos weren’t anything to write home about, but the guac was the bomb dot com. And man do I miss home now that the city has been revamping itself over the past few years. It has such a great some town feel. And mom and dad.

Tuesday morning Wes and I headed back to Calgary. He did great throughout both flights- slept through the first one then patiently snacked and played for the second. Plus, we were back home by noon so it made for a relatively painless trip while still having some of the day to enjoy.

Home! I missed it a bit.

And in true family fashion, we headed to Costco to stock up on all the staples. (How Tyler lives on takeout while I’m gone I’ll never know. I.Can’t.Do.That.)

Reunited with his best friend. I can tell Layla missed Wes. Reggie, though…not so much. He is a pain in the butt beagle that needs all the attention!

Back home means I’m back to baking.

I’m a terrible memory-making parent because I haven’t purchased any Halloween decor for the house, so we made a quick trip to the store to grab just a couple of things to get in the spirit. To be honest, I don’t think Wes will remember Halloween this year, so it’s mostly for the pictures…but again, terrible parent over here because I’m putting him in the same costume as last year.

I made some homemade granola which I’ve been using for my latest yogurt bowl obsession. It’s the best batch of granola I’ve made- simple and tasty. Wes loves it too!

This colder weather is making it a bit challenging for me to come up with activities for us to do during the week. We can’t go for walks as much (uhhhh it SNOWED on Friday), there’s only so much mall-walking that’s tolerable, and he’s still a bit too small to really participate in toddler classes. So….we headed to the library! I’ll have to trek back into Calgary to visit our old library because it’s so much bigger and newer and nicer than the one now closest to us..

My new gym membership started this week! I’m really excited to start taking all these new classes and figuring out which I like best. The facility is brand new and super cool WITH FREE CHILDCARE so I’m all HEYYYYYYYY.
The first class I attended was called Pound Light Show. We used drumsticks for the entirety of the class and the black light/disco ball was on making it for a really fun and high-energy atmosphere.

I came home from the gym to find this guy in his jammies and cabin booties! Funny kid.

Saturday was one of those days where we blinked and it was over. I know Tyler and I both long for the weekends to come because it means a tad more sleeping, lounging, and family time. I picked up a day shift at work and once I was done and Wes was up from a super long nap, we headed out to a couple of breweries. Because that’s how we roll. Then pick up pizza on the way home.

I’ve realized that we’ve spent so much money on furniture (not including the couches pictures above..those are some oldies we’re hanging on to until we find new stuff) and we all mostly sit on the floor. Whattheheck.

BROWNIES. I finally made the most perfect brownie that is super easy to make. It’s fudgy and perfect. Only trouble is that I want to eat the whole pan of them ASAP.
Ok, so….TOMORROW I’ll be checking in again and sharing some of my latest favorites! Please don’t forget to stop by and check them out.
