Weekend

Hi friends. I really need to get better at posting. Meh.

What’s been going on? Same old, same old. We’ve turned into pretty boring folk as of late, and to be honest I kind of love it. Except most of that boring bit is now consumed with home reno type stuff which I could totally do without. I’ll just be really happy when it’s all done!

Friday, I left work early to head to a doctor appointment which yielded several ‘greats’ and ‘everything’s perfect’. RELIEF.

Later in the evening, I had another prenatal massage which was GLORIOUS. I always make sure to book my appointments with the same girl because she is really just so amazing. Either that, or I’ve always landed crappy masseuses in the past. (Is masseuses a word?)

We rounded out the night watching The Judge–>long movie–> then bed.

Saturday, Tyler went out to run errands then spent the rest of the day working on wiring in the basement. I schlepped all over Calgary picking up various baby items and groceries. Woof. We ended up not eating dinner until 8:30pm! Which is really weird for us since we’re senior citizens and generally eat around 5-5:30. ha!

PS: babies are expensive.

Really expensive.

Please send baby items.

I’m not joking.

Sunday was fun! Well, as fun as Sundays get when you have to head to work the next day. There was a lot of laundry/cleaning up/etc. And bacon.

I was in the middle of doing a lower body-intense workout when the Seahawks finally decided to step up their game. Not one to miss the excitement OR my workout, I would up doing a few hundred lunges around the kitchen island.

Now you’re all caught up. Perhaps I’ll check in tomorrow and be a bit more witty.

What’s up with you? Leave a comment!

I’ve been meaning

I’ve been meaning to start typing this post for the last 30 minutes but I’ve been having waves of the nastiest hot flashes that I couldn’t focus.

You don’t care about my hot flashes though.

This past week has felt crazy busy between Christmas prepping, house prepping for my parents visit, and more house renos/improvements.

Woof, I’m tired just thinking about all of it.

But I am SO excited for Christmas, my parents and getting this house in ship shape!

We finally had the carpet installed in our basement and living room. Guess what? Layla threw up on it shortly after the installers left. Then Reggie pooped on it. Good dogs. We also sold a ton of stuff on Kijiji. Then bought MORE stuff from Kijiji. I think our house is finally coming together which is super exciting. But I’m willing to bet that once everything is finally done, we’ll be ready to move. Womp womp.

I’ve also been a baking MACHINE. Mmmm, I can’t wait for my mom to get here so we can team up and bake bake bake! So far I’ve made Peanut Butter Blossoms,  Apple Crisp, Iced Oatmeal Cookies, and Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies. I had another recipe I was planning to put together tonight, but I forgot one of the main ingredients while I was at the grocery store! Pooo.

I also went to Market Collective with my friend Susie. It was a pretty neat shopping experience- all the vendors were really unique (but a tad too rich for my blood). I managed to snag a few small goodies but I can’t tell you what they are because some of them are gifts!

Ah, I’m so boring because I don’t feel like adding any pictures. And I totally forgot what else I was going to type. Better get back to catching up on my recorded episodes of Kourtney and Khloe, My Five Wives, and AFV. Quite the variety if you ask me!

Tell me, what are you baking around the holidays? I’d love some ideas for something new to add to my list this year!

It’s December!

It’s December and I’m super freaking happy because the next month consists of cookies and candles and food and presents and CHRISTMAS MOVIES.

I’ve already burned through a ton of 3-wick candles and managed to whip up large batches of peanut butter blossoms and iced oatmeal cookies.

What have I been up to, hmmmm…..

I put on real clothes for a wedding

I did yoga at home with Layla (lately she has been stuck to me like glue and follows me wherever I go. As I type this, she is laying under my chair with her chin resting on my foot.) ALSO- my workouts have started to pick up again! I’ve added more interval training back in because I think my body- even going through this HUGE change- was getting ‘settled’ with my workouts. I have had a ton of energy and have really felt great.

I bought a ton of baby crap. It’s both overwhelming and exciting. So far, we have a crib, pack n play, stroller, car seat and dresser (that my mom and I will be refinishing!)

This is also currently en route to my house:

Tyler didn’t get it at first, but I bought it as soon as I saw it because it’s hysterical. Probably because I know Spanish and he knows French. Hashtag language barrier.

Also, can we please talk about how my SON (WHOA SO WEIRD TO TYPE THAT) is going to be a dual citizen before me? No fair.

T-minus 136 days until I can refer to this chart:

My Christmas spirit animal is THIS LADY

I think 90% of my xmas shopping is online this year. Downside of this? It takes approximately 472 days for ANYTHING to ship in Canada. Oh well.

Speaking of online shopping, does anyone have any Etsy shops they recommend? I am literally obsessed

with Etsy and could buy just about everything. Please leave comments with any recommendations!!

On the Radar

This week, I’ve been obsessively scouring Etsy. It’s kind of ridiculous. But just as I’m adding things left and right to my shopping cart, I realize how much I hate spending money and how much I’ll need to actually save before going on mat leave (FOR A YEAR, you guys. Canada is so cool like that).  BUT, if you have any favorite Etsy shops you think I should check out, PLEASE let me know!!! 🙂

I’ve also been pretty obsessed with candles and ice cream and hot chocolate this week. Tyler and I scored a massive deal on 3-wick candles and I’ve been lighting them up all over the place. It makes me feel so cheery. So does hot chocolate with way too many mini marshmallows.

Next on my obsession list is how much I’ve actually enjoyed researching what baby items I want. (But it’s only enjoyable if I don’t look at the price tags). It’s crazy how different Canada is versus the US on top picks for various items. Plus, I have the help of my trusty ol’ Baby Bargains book.

10th edition, obviously. For all the latest and greatest. I’m way too excited to head to a baby store tomorrow after work to check out all my top picks in person!

Know what else I’ve found to be addictive as hell? Two Dots.

Thanks to this game, I’ve been successfully occupied (at work) for hours!

Other things on my radar lately:

  • dried fruit
  • homeland. OH MY GOD this week’s episode got my SO worked up. I won’t say anything in case anyone out there hasn’t seen it yet. But……SAUL!!!
  • any exercise using a kettle bell. SO fun.
  • Christmas decorations. I’m currently on the hunt for a few stocking holders and maybe some other decorative bits for the mantle. Anyone have pointers/suggestions?
  • vitamin D gummies. I can’t wait to have 2 every morning. So tasty with my daily glass of chocolate milk.
  • lululemon wunder unders. Life savers for every day. every occasion. every size of belly.
  • actually going online after shopping and filling out the surveys mentioned on the bottom of receipts to win stuff. Yes, I spent the good part of an hour completing a dozen or so of these last weekend. Fingers crossed I win something!
  • My parents are coming to stay with us for the holidays (4 WEEKS!!) and I was just able to find them each a good comfy pair of slippers and robes to use while they’re here. Can’t wait for them to be here! Not so secretly bummed that I can’t wine it up with mom on Christmas.
  • Figuring out what the hell I want for ME for Christmas. Diamond earrings will always top the list until I get another pair (I know, so spoiled that I have a set already and still want another for the extra set of holes in my ears)
  • Going to spin again this weekend! It’s so fun and exciting to do these high-intesity workouts now incorporated with a ton of my stretching, yoga, pilates and other low-impact workouts as of late.

PS: Guess what?! We’re having a BOY!!!!!
