Flashback Friday

Another week in the books. Nothing too exciting to report on this end. Perhaps this picture can help give you an idea of how I’ve been spending my days:

photo 1-36

Pillows, blankets, dogs, nutella, water, tv and some fitness equipment. (Disregard the background- we are pairing that room this weekend and refinishing the fireplace. Finally. And by *we* I mean Tyler because it takes me 45 minutes to stand up from this couch.) So boring, But totally needed since I can’t really do anything anyways! I did try to run a couple of baby-related errands yesterday and 3 stops earned me a 2 hour nap and lethargic afternoon/evening. And my appetite is now gone. Which sucks because I kind of like food.

I did manage to pick up a smaller rug to place under the rocker so that it wouldn’t rock into the wall every time I stood up. I think I need to add a dog bed to the room as well because Layla is doing a good job of hanging out in there too.

photo 2-36

I’ve gotten incredibly clumsy over the last few weeks and dropped a figurine when I tried to put the rug down and it broke into a billion pieces. You might be able to see some of the pieces under the crib still because I’m lazy and didn’t want to reach for them yet.

Yesterday, my mom sent me some pics of when *I* was a baby, so I really wanted to share those. Can you tell I’m really getting into this whole baby thing? Holy crap it’s exhilarating and exhausting. PS: Why is Home Depot the only place with expectant mother parking? Sorry, but if I need something from Home Depot, I’m sending Tyler. Give me preferential parking at the grocery store! And the drug store! And the froyo shop!

Ok, back to some old pictures. Sorry if this is boring, but I find them completely hilarious either because of my whackadoodle chub or because of the glorious 80’s-ness (new word?) of my outfits.

Glorious. Just glorious.

These photos are rare because they capture some of the few moments where I was actually smaller than my mother. Case in point:

See? She’s tiny. (Mom, don’t call me after you read this and yell at me. You’re cute in the pic so that’s all that matters)

^^This is what I’ll look like if I keep it up with my current nutella consumption.^^

Striking a pose. Remember when I tried to recreate one of my poses? Here’s a refresher:

Humpday Bumpday

More baby stuff to share! This week, I thought I’d give a little scoop on the online service, Babylist, that I used to register for some baby items we needed.

babylist

The features that make BabyList unique are:

1. Add anything from any online store to your baby registry. This means everything from big boxes to little mom ‘n’ pop Etsy shops

2. You can even add gifts that you can’t find in stores. BabyList makes it easy to include requests for help and favors in your registry, like a home-cooked meal or babysitting.

3. Save gift-givers money — Prices can fluctuate a lot between the time you add items and when someone buys it. BabyList will show links to multiple stores that have the same item, so you gift-giver won’t end up paying too much.

4. Access a registry on the go with iPhone, iPad app, or Android app. (And check out those reviews. That’s a lot of love from real users, which means that’s an app that actually works!)

5. Registry Rewards at multiple stores.

6. You can talk to a real person — send an email (or call) and BabyList will respond.

7. Free registry insert cards. BabyList makes it easy to drop a registry insert card in with your shower invitation, which makes it easy for your friends and family to find your registry.

babylist2

Pretty cool, right? I was able to get ours up and running within a couple of minutes and have since added the app to my phone so I can edit the list whenever the mood strikes.

I think the best feature of this site is that it allows you to add items from ANYWHERE online. LOVE. I didn’t want to be confined to just BabiesRUs (no offense if that’s the route you took) because other stores out there offer certain products that caught my eye.

Another great feature is that it allows me to add products from .ca sites and my US friends/family can still order them and get them delivered to me with no extra hassle! PLUS- we aren’t having a shower (total downfall of living so far away from practically all friends/family) so I was able to share the link on Facebook!

So, if you find yourself pregnant and in need of a registry service, check out Babylist! (Also, if you want to buy me the baby things from my registry list, email me and I’ll send you the link..because um, yeah 😉 )

FYI: This isn’t a sponsored post! I am just really impressed with Babylist and wanted to share it!

Have you heard of Babylist? Did you register?

Humpday Bumpday

Well, I did it. I am officially on short term disability until my mat leave starts (I guess my claim still has to process, but I’m pretty confident it’ll go through!!) So the next 5 weeks before baby arrives will be filled with pajamas, netflix and REST. Music to my ears.

relief

Yup, just like Harry, I am SO relieved. I can finally just relax and make myself as comfortable as possible in these last few weeks. Although, I was filled with guilt this morning when I went into work to notify my boss/coworkers and collect my things. It was a quick exit and I of course cried like a baby- NOT because I’m going to miss work, but because I felt so awkward for leaving early.

Even the physical therapist last night was on my case telling me I needed to stop being so tough and just admitting defeat to my back pain. Guys, this was so HARD to do because I don’t even like calling in sick because I always feel so dang guilty!! But his encouragement, coupled with Tyler’s, my parents, my boss, and the HR contact at work really convinced me this was the way to go.

You’d wonder though, how this little (I think it’s little) bump can cause so much discomfort. I’m really hoping he’s just a stubborn baby and resting on some nerves and that I will feel back to my normal self after he get’s the heck OUT.

FYI: my hair was on point for this picture!

So obviously the last few days have been incredibly stressful.

Luckily, I have some of the best friends back home and have received some goodies in the mail which have REALLY lifted my spirits. I’ve been sitting on the floor in the baby’s room just looking at all the stuff and getting all gushy and excited. (The highs and lows of pregnancy emotions are crazy and weird and random)

Yesterday, I got a huge care package from my gym friends- Athena, Liz and Ashley. I’ll let the picture do the talking. So many awesome things!!

photo 2-33

I had only bought one mini series of children’s books, so I got really excited to start adding to the collection. Of course, the only line running through my head as I flipped through these was:

books

Anyone know the reference??

Then today, I got another box in the mail from my hometown friend

photo 3-26

I can’t express enough how appreciative I am for all of these thoughtful gifts and I know the baby is already beyond spoiled 😉

Can I just make a side note of how drastically different this mid-week post is from my previous normal? Winesday Wednesday has become Humpday Bumpday? Holy crap. Just to establish a bit of normalcy, I’ll leave you with this..

The Nursery(!!)

Alright, I couldn’t hold it off any longer. The nursery still isn’t 100% done, but I think it’s somewhat put together enough that I thought I’d share some pictures!

IMG_0370

This is by far my favorite part of the room. PS: I still need to vacuum, I know. And stock the shelves with diapers and wipes, etc. They’re in the closet- which is currently a disaster filled with baby clothes, the pack n play, the stroller, high chair, bath, and a billionty other baby-necessities.

It took me a couple hours last night to actually figure out how to arrange the frames on the wall. No joke, a couple of hours. Pregnancy brain is in FULL effect (to further back that up, I just painted two paint samples side-by-side on our living room wall and couldn’t decide which I liked better. Until I discovered that I paint the EXACT SAME COLOR two times. doh). I whipped out some tissue paper and cut out templates and taped them to the wall to make sure I was really sold on the formation and it turned out to be a pretty genius, pinteresty-y type thing to do.

Wanna know where I got some of these goodies?

Wall gallery, starting with the top left and going clockwise:

I Heart My City by HouseOfBoysShop on Etsy

Frame from Michaels (bought cork board and cut to fit the frame)

Peter Cotton Tail print from Market Collective, Dec 2014 (I can’t recall which vendor!)

Teddy Bear print (with cuddle blanket seen on rocker) from BeckyMcCreary on Etsy

Frame from Michaels (bought canvas and cut to fit frame)

Mirror from Winners

Changing pad cover by Aden & Anais

Dresser found on Kijiji (painted white and found these crystal knobs)

Silver cart from Ikea

Swaddle blankets (I want 100 more of these!!) from Aden & Anais. I hope the baby likes them as much as I do

Rug from Wayfair.com

IMG_0372

I still don’t have any stuffed animals in the room, otherwise I’d probably show a wider shot, but I had to share the print hanging above the crib because I absolutely LOVE it. I actually first wrote about it here and then immediately purchased one for myself (from Minted) The throw was knit by one of the mom’s friends- which I also love!

IMG_0377

This corner is almost done as well. I just need to hang a few things and get another rug to put under the chair because the rocker actually slips back a bit and bumps into the wall when I stand up out of it!

Here’s what I’ve got going:

Ottoman from Target (<- this is the closest I could find on the American website, since Target.ca never listed items online. Oh, and they’re leaving Canada.)

Birch spice racks from Ikea (yet to be hung and will be used for books/stuffed animals)

Rocking Chair from Wayfair.com

Pillow from Winners

Night Stand from Ikea, painted white

Lamp from Ikea (took from our guest bedroom)

Ceiling Lamp from Ikea (I am grossly obsessed with this light even though it’s about .00000002 seconds away from being in your grandmother’s house)

The center of the room is also crowded with the bouncer and car seat since I have no other place in the house to put them. I guess that’s what happens when at least 30% of any part of your house is being reno’d at any given time.

It’s crazy how bare the room still feels, yet I feel like I’ve shopped till I’ve dropped and spent more money than I care to admit. How does that happen? Oy.

PPS: Now i feel the need to shop for more baby things after having to link to all of them for this post. Wish my credit card good luck!
