My HYPOTHETICAL dating profile would read as follows:
Interests: Baking, Fitness, Beer, Napping.
Ok, there might be a little more to it than that, but it pretty much sums me up. I can nap at the drop of a hat; I have enjoyed more types of beer than you can count, I’m obsessed with working out, and I have a few trusty baking recipes up my sleeve.
As much as I like to think I’ve mastered the baking part of my life, it’s really only the flavor that I can make right (I mean, who can mess up chocolate?!!). As for the decorating part of it? Not my forte. I wish, but sadly no.
A while back, Instagram worked its algorithm magic on me and I somehow stumbled upon Frost Cake YYC. Anything with a YYC attached to it catches my eye since it’s CALGARY.
Anyways….this Insta account was filled with the most beautiful looking cakes and cupcakes I’d ever seen. I needed to get one in my life STAT.
Enter: The S’mores Cake
Umm, hello most gorgeous piece of sugary goodness I’ve had in my possession. Aren’t you a beautiful little sugar bomb about to get in my belly.
This s’mores cake is comprised of chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, graham cracker crumbs and toasted marshmallows. There’s also marshmallow fluff filling. Drool. Now.
You can find a picture of this stunner in the dictionary under the word ‘PERFECT’. Seriously.
It took all my might not to eat the entire cake in one sitting because it’s that good. Which makes me want to make note: you know how you go to weddings or parties and the cake can look really cool but then it tastes just blah? Well, this is not that case. It is a moist and flavorful cake with some of the richest buttercream I’ve tasted. This is not your boring old birthday cake, people!
Psst: There’s a trick to cutting into toasted marshmallow. All you have to do is lather a serrated knife with some vegetable oil, wipe it with a paper towel so there’s only a thin layer, then cut. You’re welcome.
To all my Calgary readers, I highly urge you to get in touch with Bree from Frost Cake YYC on her Facebook page if ever you’re in the market for a beautiful and tasty cake/cupcakes. Not only with they be one hell of a conversation piece at any event, but they will be the dessert highlight!
Even if you don’t need a cake in the near future, check out her page or her Instagram anyways and look at all the beautiful work she’s done.
Thank you so much Bree for one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. (Mom: You still make my favorite, so don’t hate on me too much!)
I’m definitely drooling looking at that cake. Baking is not my forte. I am not patient enough and don’t follow directions thoroughly. Buying good baking though, I can manage!
I don’t bake. I don’t even like cake that much. But I want this cake in my life. It’s slightly cruel that you’re taunting all of your readers with this beautiful looking thing. Marshmallow fluff filling? C’mon, you’re killing me! /drool
That right there is one heck of a good-looking cake.
Now I wished I’d ordered a super pretty fancy schmancy cake for my bday next week. But I did go with Cold Stone, so I think I’ll survive. 🙂
For a few seconds I thought you made that. LOL anyway, beautiful!
Oh my goodness – that cake looks out of this world beautiful AND delicious!
That cake looks so good. I would love to try this one. Once I remodel my kitchen, I want to make it.
drooling… at 8:30am. it’s never too early for cake, though!
