I’d like to go to a fancy party

I have to start the morning off right. Look at this dress:

Ah, gorgeous! I think I could even pull it off.. Not that I have any reason to wear a floor length gown, but still. And then there’s my favorite part:

Woof, take a took at that back (not specifically Elizabeth Bank’s back, but the back of the dress) LOVE. I think one of the boards I have on Pinterest mainly consists of backless dresses. I have an obsession. Does anyone want to invite me to something fancy so I can buy one?! Pleeeeease…

Back on track, Jen, back on track. Today is Thursday! *duh* no different than any other day, BUT I’m having coffee with another American! Yup, I’m not the only one who has left the U.S of A. to be with their man. You have no idea how exciting this is for me. More importantly, I have plans. That’s right, something to get ready for. A brush my teeth, comb my hair event. We agreed to meet at a coffee place halfway between our houses and perhaps walk the park or browse some boutiques (she has no idea what a pro I am at browsing).

Just had myself another bowl o’ oaty goodness in preparations for today’s events.

I actually weighed myself this morning (pre-oats) and discovered that I haven’t gained any weight! I usually only weigh myself when I am at my parents house because I’m one of those people who could obsess over the number (cue: downward spiral). But Tyler just taught me how to use his scale (I’m too stupid to figure it out, apparently) and I thought I’d give it a go after this past months events. Woohoo! Jen’s a happy lady.

Question: What’s your relationship with the scale?

Badda bing, badda boom

WORKOUT: DONE.

One hour of a super sweaty at-home kickboxing session. SCORE! I did the first half of CD 1 from CBC‘s Jam’n Cardio Kix, then a bunch of my fave advanced routines (you CBC ladies probably know exactly which ones I did). I only stopped because my floor was too sweaty to keep going. Perhaps round 2 later? Or maybe some muscle stuff..
I AM wearing my super awesome-y shoes that always pump up my workouts

Go me!

Layla is back to normal. Stretched out on the bed, her drooling subsided.

Thank god. I was this close to rubberbanding sponges to my feet and follow her around. That would’ve been quite the sight.

And now it’s storytime. First, a picture of my non-wrinkled, non-botoxed forehead:

You’ll see why I posted that pic in the story (Sidenote: I hateeee that stupid little freckle in the middle of my forehead. At least it keeps me symmetrical.)

SO, back to the story. In elementary school, we had a teacher, Mrs. Mazur, who taught math and spanish for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. She had this reward system where she would award tickets (like raffle tickets) for those who did well on tests, performed their dialogues correctly, or who were well-behaved. The students could then use their tickets to buy things from her closet. She has candy, school supplies and cheapy little toys. Usually an A on a test would be 4 tickets, a correct answer to a question would be 1 ticket, etc. Me, being the weird student that I was (still am), I decided to save all my tickets throughout the three years then redeem my billions of them upon 8th grade graduation. I had saved over 300 tickets by the end of 7th grade (turns out she left before 8th grade for me to redeem, but I digress) Anyhoo, I decided to really WOW her in math class by going up to her and telling her I could make pi. Confused, she asked why I would tell her that I could make pie. Was it apple? Pumpkin? A-HA! I revealed my super fancy trick that got me EIGHT tickets. EIGHT. Behold the glory that is PI:

This story has been brought to you on behalf of Pi Day (3.14). I decided to forego an actual pie story/recipe. I’m a nerd. WOWZA.

Are you sore?

Any of you folks out there sore? Apparently I neglected to stretch after yesterday’s killer workout. Oy! The shin splints, however, are courtesy of the hilly walks Layla and I have taken the past few days. Without fail, I always get shins splints when I take her for walks. Whyyyyyyyy?! Ah well, it’s worth it. Layla gets her exercise and I get to creep in people’s windows (relax, it’s during the day so it’s way less creepy.)

What I have noticed on our walks is that a lot of people place their TV in front of their huge front window. People, I have news for you. If you need something to block your view or prevent peeping toms, buy curtains. There. Unless people find it design savvy to have passersby see your sweet TV hookups. I’m not going to look into it, I’m not that interested.

Oh, and I saw a house that looks almost identical to the one I was born and raised in in Irvine, CA. Not that you care.

Last night we had an impromptu fire. Tyler suggested it because winter’s practically over and he still has a lot of wood left (haha). What he really meant to say was “Jen, because I love you and I know how much you love fires, I’m going to start one for you tonight.” That’s what I heard, anyways.

I’m not holding a dark blob. That’s Layla. We’re working on a better lighting system for the family room.

No clue what’s in store for today. Some type of workout, some type of food, and maybe a funny story or two.

Question: What’s something that you do every day?
(besides brush your teeth. That should be done twice, anyhow.)

I miss Trader Joe’s!

I miss Trader Joe’s! And Whole Foods! Ah, the misery! As I was getting in my car to go hit Safeway around the corner, I took a 6 km (Tyler adjusted my GPS to read kilometers instead of miles. you can do the conversion if you wish) detour to Planet Organic Market to see how it compared to my long lost loves.

Obviously, I didn’t leave empty handed. I got a some almond milk, nutritional yeast, peppermint tea, Snapea Crisps, almond cashew butter, and three Vega protein smoothies. <–I’m really excited to try these smoothies, I’ve heard so much about the company (all positives!) and have had a hard time finding them! Score!

THEN, I managed to get back to Safeway to buy the intended taco fixings. Tacos turned to taco salads when I somehow bought a bag of blue corn tortilla chips. Don’t know how that happened.

I managed to eat about half of all that. Phew. Peppermint tea to the rescue!

On another note, when I got home, Layla seemed to be drooling excessively. Like, running faucet. It won’t stop. I think it’s because she’s recently come across rubber chewing toys. I’m really hoping it’s not the new pills she’s on. She’s not flinching when I try to touch her teeth or gums….guess we’ll have to play the waiting game on that one. Anyone have this problem with their dogs before? Lil help here!

Off to watch The River (terrible show, but I have to see how the season ends) and get crackin’ on Catching Fire!

Hey there!

Hey there! Long time no talk. Friday night’s festivities really got the best of me and I was a loser in bed most of the day yesterday. BUT, I did slap on a fresh coat of face paint (makeup) and head over to Doug and Jen’s with Tyler. It was fun! Plus, the glass of wine really helped with the hangover.

Today is errand day. First stop: IKEA. Lil’ ol’ me got a few things for mah off-eeece.
It’s a little bare for now, but I need time to brainstorm how I want the final look.
Preview pic:

We got some doggie food from Pet Planet and the lady let us take home one a FURminator to try. Woof, does it work! Layla sat so patiently while I brushed about 42 pounds of hair off of her. Will definitely be looking into purchasing one!

Got some fitness equipment as well. My office will be a blog slash workout room slash lady retreat combo. Tyler gave me some speakers too, so I can pump up the music to get in some great at-home sweat seshies.

To round out the outing, we stopped at Mucho Burrito for some eats. It’s super similar to Chipotle and it’s super delicious. Take a look at this whopping burrito:

And I ate every bite of it. Yum yum yum.

The rest of the day will be filled with house organizing and what not. If I am ever hungry again (I totally will be, but jesus that burrito was large and in charge) I’ll throw together a nice dinner for Ty and I and watch the Amazing Race! And since it is super gorgeous out, Layla will be getting a long walk. And by walk, I mean strut. She’s totally digging her shiny clean coat and will probably work the sidewalk like a runway. I might follow suit.
