Weekender

There should be a day between Sunday and Monday called Sleepday. I feel wiped from the past week and just want to curl up under the covers and doze off for a good long while. Weird since I am still averaging 8+ hours of sleep each night. So, a rather quick recap of the weekend:

Friday: Pancakes. Duh, I know. I love them so much. This week they’ll probably be green because I’ve got a huge container of spinach sitting in the fridge. Hope they turn out ok!

After quickly squeezing in a workout, walk with the dogs and a shower, I met up with Jen for an afternoon industry tasting session of Winefest.

It was a pretty neat session since it was FAR less crowded than normal. We were able to chat with many of the vendors and learned a few things. And drank wine. Mmm, wine.

Saturday: I didn’t sleep a wink the night before, so the morning was a rough go. (More from the lack of sleep than from the wine. I feel so grown up?)Β Tyler made a delicious breakfast and I ended up napping on the couch..then being a couch potato for most of the rest of the day.

IMG_2820

Remember when I thought I killed my computer? We ordered a replacement before determining the existing still worked. So- we sold the old computer and I got to open the new one! Even though it’s exactly the same, it’s a bit exciting. Although now my pictures are all backed up on a separate hard drive and I’m dreading having to sort through them eventually.

And my child loves cheese.

I gave Wes a quick bath while Tyler brought his mom back to the airport then quickly hopped in the car to head to Winefest AGAIN.

This time, I met up with Susie and opted to try more of the white wines. This tasting was open to the public, so there was a lot of interesting people watching! I wound up eating more than drinking (maybe 1 full glass total?) andΒ was home by 10:30. I have to remember that I’m no good at staying out late anymore! It was still a lot of fun πŸ™‚

Sunday:Β With Wes being on a 1-nap-a-day kick, he has been going down a lot earlier each night, but also stirring a bit earlier in the morning. I got him out of his crib at 7:15am and he actually fell asleep on me for an additional hour! I would have loved the extra sleep myself, but I sat there and soaked up the giant baby cuddles.

IMG_2833

Tyler requested waffles for breakfast which I was all to happy to make! They had to be vegan waffles because we ran out of eggs. It took a lot of willpower for me to not eat any of the leftovers and store them in the freezer for a future last minute breakfast.

A good order of operations: make breakfast BEFORE scrubbing every inch of your bathroom clean. Man alive do bathroom gets gross or what? I was on hands and knees getting behind the toilet and everything. Nasty.

After Wes’s nap, we opted to head down to the Foothills Hospital Home Lottery home.We bought a few tickets for it this year, and needed to check out our potential new home πŸ˜‰ This is the first year that we actually really liked it! Every room was pretty darn awesome.

Since the house is on an island, we had to take a shuttle. Wes was a trooper the entire time!

Before dinner, I was about to take the dogs for a walk and noticed Layla’s tags were missing from her collar. I ended up taking them on the same route as the day before to see if they had fallen off anywhere, but no luck. I took them for another walk after dinner to just unwind and go at a decent pace since it was them dark and no sense trying to look for the tags then.

Ok, I’ve done about 300 loads of laundry today, most of the house is clean, and I’m wiped. Hope you had a great weekend!

Small Shoppin’- Will & Co.

Hey friends! Boy oh boy do I have an awesome little shop to share with you.

Β Will&Co:Β  Julia Mathers is the creater of Will&Co. She isΒ an early childhood educator that has been in the field for over a decade and absolutely adore what she does. She started Will&Co after a few friends were after some knit goods for their children.. toques, headbands etc. She hasΒ been knitting since she was a child and can’t watch tv without having my knitting with her! The name Will&Co comes from her dad Barry William Mathers and a few other Will’s that have been in her life.Β
Her shop is based out of Kelowna, BC (Um I want to move there) so if you’re looking to support Canadian made, this is the place! She makes toques, booties, little boy boy ties and kidfinity scarves. Lots of goodies for the littles.

Julia sent us twinning theΒ 50 Shades toques and they’re my newest favorite accessory. The name is pretty cool too πŸ˜‰

The knit is so cozy and soft that Wes doesn’t even mind his on his head. No itch=no pulling off his noggin! I’m the same way. I accidentally kept it on for a couple of hours even when we got back inside!

IMG_2632
Julia’s focus is mainly on accessories for children, but I am REALLY glad she ventured in to these twinning toques! She also mentioned that she’s getting into Mama Cabin Booties (to match the baby cabin booties.) Well, I guess I’ll need those too πŸ˜‰
I mean, seriously, how adorable are these?–>
booties
You can’t tell from the photo, but they have stitched leather soles made from 100% recycled leather. I remember seeing on her Instagram feed that they’re pretty durable, too. Noted for when Wes becomes a littler wanderer.

The look she aims for is simple, rustic and classic. And she definitely hits the nail on the head. There’s even a small personalized leather WILL sown to each toque. Super cute!

Julia’s also got a spring line of bow ties and kidfinity scarves which are set to be released on February 28th. Vancouver friends: this is the same day that Little Bean + CoΒ will be launching their mobile shop which will be carrying some Will & Co products!Β
Here’s a sneak peak:

The spring Kidfinity scarves are a light jersey knit blend, perfect for layering over tanks and t-shirts.These are priced at $14 CDN. The bow ties are same as the existing,Β just in three new patterns and they are priced at $12 CDN.

We already have a bow tie for Wes and he likes to rock it out now and then.

Julia has graciously offered a 20% discount to readers! American friends: this is aΒ steal for you with the current exchange rate. Use theΒ code NUTCASEINPOINT at checkout and promo is valid until March 31st.

Thanks Will & Co!

Weekender

Well, this weekend was SUPER low key. Almost did nothing! Tyler has this week off so it’s nice to not feel rushed after the weekend- even if it was a three day weekend!

Friday:Β Pumpkin pancakes to start the day. I used the last of my maple syrup jug! Sad face. I may or may not have licked the remaining syrup off my plate πŸ˜‰

IMG_2488

And that is the only photo I took of the day! haha. The rest is just same old, same old–> I worked out, walked the dogs, picked up around the house. Wes napped, ate, pooped, napped, ate, pooped. Thrilling day I tell ya.

Saturday:Β The day started off pretty darn slow. I ran a couple of errands while Wes took his morning nap then presented him (a day early) with some Valentine’s day goodies. He was super thrilled as you can see.

IMG_2503

We went to Costco in the afternoon then rounded out the day with a delicious pork tenderloin dinner.

IMG_2512

I also enjoyed a beer…with a baby in the background!
IMG_2507

We watched Bridge of Spies then went to bed.

Sunday:Β Another slow as molasses day. Lots of cuddles with my little guy in the morning and I squeezed in a workout, shower and some breakfast while he was down for his morning nap.

IMG_2516

The sun was a-shinin’ so bright I NEEDED to get Wes out of the house to soak up some good old vitamin D! We walked down the street to the swings for a hot second.

Boo sported his brand new Will & Co toque and loved it! Know how I know? He didn’t even once try to take it off. #winning

IMG_2598

Funniest part– he looked as if he was falling asleep on the swing for a few minutes. Tyler thought we could get him down for a nap right after, but my mama instincts knew that wouldn’t be the case. It’s so cute though I have to share a small video of it:

Wes on the swing from Jen Linton on Vimeo.

I took the doggies for a long walk to get more fresh air while Wes napped again and wound up with a fresh air headache. Does anyone ever get those? They hurt.

Got some pics of my handsome little Valentine

SOMEONE *cough cough Tyler* didn’t acknowledge Valentine’s Day (the girly girl in me is bummed out there were no chocolates or flowers or even a Happy Valentine’s Day) but he did make pizza for dinner, so that makes up for it. Well, makes up for 10% of it. I still want chocolates. And flowers.

IMG_2602

We watched The Walking Dead (so romantic) and I called it quits. I don’t know how I’m so tired when my fitbit tells me I averaged 8hr 54min sleep this past week!

Monday: Typical morning. After Wes’s nap, we headed to Cross Iron and Tyler’s mom got him a bunch of new clothes. I packed my lunch for the ride!

Β We were there for a couple of hours and Wes did really great.

IMG_2611

While he was down for his afternoon nap, I posted his 10 month updateΒ and took the dogs for a nice run/walk. Β Β Tyler spoiled us for dinner with smoked steaks. SO YUMMY! (And he did buy chocolates at the mall, so he’s partially excused for the Valentines mishap)Β We watched The Good Dinosaur then went to bed.

How was your weekend? Have any chocolate? Wait, don’t tell me. I’ll get jealous πŸ™‚

Wesley Arlo- 10 months

That one year mark keeps creeping closer and closer and I don’t like it one bit. Well, I do love watching him develop and learn new tricks, but I miss my teeny tiny little baby. I can’t believe it has been ten whole months! Double digits.

wesleyarlo10months

He wasn’t in the happiest of moods while I tried to snap his 10 month photos this morning, but I think I got a few.

He weighs about 23 pounds (home scale) and wears 18-24 month clothes. He’s got three teeth- both bottom front and his top right. Size 5 diapers. And really big socks so his circulation isn’t cut off…#cankleproblems.

IMG_2467

Eats:Β He still breastfeeds every morning, but he hardly gets anything so it’s almost immediately supplemented with solids. 3 meals a day: his favorite breakfast is peanut butter toast and a half a banana (Every day. That’s a lot of bananas!) he gets cheese and fruit and veggies and a meat (if we have any leftovers) and some cheerios, and dinner is somewhat the same as lunch. He’ll polish off a squeeze pouch if he’s not satisfied with the solids we’ve given him. 3 bottles a day: between 4-8 oz in each. He’s a really easy eater. I have him cauliflower and broccoli and pickles and pork and he’ll just pick them up and eat them like it wasn’t a big deal.

IMG_2469

Sleep:Β We’ve finally started letting him put himself to sleep. Most of the time it works, but there are occasions where we’ve had to go in and soothe him. On a typical day, he will nap twice, ranging from 45min-80 min, and will sleep through the night for 12-13 hours.

IMG_2471

In the past month, he has really tried to get on his knees to crawl. So far, he’s pretty much mastered the roll and will get from one side of the room to the other in a flash.

He’s learned to clap his hands and can even give me a high five when I ask for it! Of course, I always ask for his left hand, so that’s the only hand he’ll use πŸ˜‰

IMG_2480

He babbles a lot and only really says ‘dada dada’ which is totally unfair considering *I* should be the favorite parent, right??

He loves shaking his toys and has a favorite book that I’ve check (and re-checked) out of the library. It’s about a puppy and the last page is a lot of WOOF WOOF WOOFs and when I read it he laughs so hard. Speaking of laughs, he’s ticklish! I love getting right into his underarms and he’s SO CLOSE to making a belly laugh I cannot even stand the cuteness of it.

IMG_2481

He loves to play with the blinds. I blame this on the fact that I’m always looking out of them for the mail person each morning. He loves his reflection and high fiving himself in the mirror. He LOVE LOVE LOVES his car (remember to check out my Instagram for #WesOnWheels) and will cry when I take him off.

IMG_2487

He’s getting a lot better at actually petting the dogs rather than smacking them. Layla could care less so long as she’s nearby, but I think Reggie appreciates the more gentle approach.

IMG_2493

He loves his baths and splashes so hard that it looks like I also took a bath with him. I put him in a laundry basket in the tub and keep the basket in the bathroom when we’re not giving him a bath so it makes for a makeshift playpen when he has separation anxiety and I have to pee πŸ˜‰

IMG_2501

He’s an overall amazing little boy. He does like to have me close by or in sight at all times which can get a bit tiring. Big boy=big whines. You know that clip from Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd asks if they want to hear the most annoying sound in the world? Well, that would be Wes’s constant whining. I’m not complaining though, because we have it pretty darn easy.
