Weekend Recap

Friday

The day started of with a major party foul: I changed up my pancake recipe. Gasp, I know. I didn’t have enough greek yogurt, so I played around the with ingredient list and BAM- yucky pancakes happened. I still ate all of them though because: BREAKFAST IS MY FAVORITE.

photo 1-125

(These were a mix of oats, greek yogurt, applesauce, egg whites and vega)

We had a later morning than usual, so I decided to throw any potential outings out the window (plus, there was frost outside, EWWWWWW). There were naps, snacks, a workout, jumperooing, book reading…the usual. And Wes is trying so hard to sit on his own. PS: If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see a hilarious slow-mo video of his sitting venture.

photo 2-121

It warmed up a bit in the afternoon, so I took Wes for a nice long walk around the neighborhood. It’s so nice to walk around when it’s sunny and quite and potentially peep into everyone’s windows. I meannnn…check out their Halloween decorations. Which reminds me, we need to buy pumpkins and candy. We’re the house that gives out full sized candy bars!! nomnomnom

I was craving grilled cheese and soup for dinner, so I had Tyler pick up a couple of the needed ingredients and we DEVOURED it all in about .4 seconds. Tip: add bacon to your grilled cheese.

photo 3-87

After Wes went to bed, we finished Pixels and started to watch Minions, but I fell asleep. You know you’re old when you BOTH go to bed before 10pm on a Friday night.

Saturday

We finally took some family pictures! I was excited to get the three of us outside and take some photos with my fancy camera, but didn’t realized until we reached the park did I leave my memory card IN my computer. UGH. Thank goodness Tyler’s phone came to the rescue!

Most of the photos caught some of the picnic table, but I’ll be cropping those out when I get some prints done to frame.

After our impromptu photo shoot, we headed to the Y for Wes’s pool class and Tyler was the designated parent this week!

Then of course it was off to Costco. Enough said there.

Wes and I hung out in our comfies upstairs while Tyler was working on the insulation in the basement. We are getting better at tummy time! Layla included.

photo 3-88

I tried to put him down for a nap, but he wasn’t too keen on it, so I bundled him up for a walk where he ended up getting around a half hour of shut eye.

photo 4-58

Tyler made us an amazing steak dinner- I could eat this for every meal. And chocolate cake.

photo 5-36

After Wes went to bed, we finished Minions then went to bed ourselves. Downside of parenthood: feeling like old people and getting to bed not long after baby. Upside of parenthood: I go to bed early and wake up sans hangover!

Sunday

Slept in until 7:23am! That’s like….unheard of.

I fed Wes and quickly scarfed a Quest bar before getting in a 21 day fix workout. While he took his morning nap, I was able to shower, do the laundry, clean up the kitchen and bake another batch of Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars.

Tyler also made us a DELICIOUS brunch of bacon, sausage, eggs and hash browns. Oh, and a bit of Baileys in our coffee. NOMS.

photo 1-127

I inhaled that whole plate.

Since winter is pretty much here, I needed to swap out a ton of clothes in my closet. I got rid of a LOT. It feels really good to purge some stuff that haven’t seen the light of day in ages. Plus, I found my Michael Kors bag that I so desperately wanted last year and have used about 2 times. So I’ve decided to sell it. Anyone want to buy it? Pretty please??

mkbag

Seriously, I don’t think I’ll use it at all and I could really use the extra $$. Please email me if interested!

Tyler made us some delicious burritos for dinner and I ate way too much and still feel sick to my stomach.

photo-86

Throughout the afternoon and evening Wes was OUT OF SORTS. He was so grumpy Tyler and I couldn’t figure out what to do for him! So we tried everything. There were some temporary solutions, but WOOF it made for quite the challenging day. He finally went to sleep at 8pm. I am really hoping this was just a one day thing because I have no idea how to tackle the day if it’s anything near the same and Tyler is at work.

At least he’s cute.

How was your weekend?

…From the Week

Monday

Woof did it feel like a busy day! After breakfast, I threw Wes in the jumperoo and attempted my workout. I’m an idiot and tried to do a high intensity workout after a big meal and felt like barfing the entire time. Wes fell asleep with 10 minutes left so I was able to quickly switch him to his crib and finish up few a few minutes to spare.

insanity

Then it was time to run errands! We went to Wal-Mart, West Coast Kids and Bed Bath & Beyond. SO EXCITING, I KNOW.

After lunch, Wes napped again (he has been on a 3-a-day nap kick lately and I totally love it) then I put him in the Ergo and walked Layla to the vet. It’s not dinner table appropriate, but the appointment was to express her *ahem* anal glands. Lovely.

photo-84

When we got back, I spent a bunch of time picking out photos to get printed, then put Wes down again and made dinner. I haven’t had baked ziti since the days of sports team dinners and it was good!

photo 3-84

photo 2-115

photo 1-119

I took the pups for a long evening walk, bathed Wes and painted my nails. Monday: ENDED.

Tuesday

UGH. Someone decided to get up at 5am. And then only went back to sleep if it was on my lap. I’m not complaining, but please send eye cream!

I got in my workout (HATE doing super intense workouts in the morning. barf) and Wes had a nap before we headed over to check out a potential day home and make a Costco run.

Only took 6 months for me to finally put this frame together..

photo 2-116

I think Wes got out of the wrong side of the crib this morning because the boy did NOT want to go down for his afternoon nap….until 30 minutes later I put him on my lap and he was out like a light. I keep reminding myself to cherish these moments because he’ll be too big before I know it!

We went for a walk in the late afternoon to kill some time. Wes shook his wind chime the entire trip- much to the entertainment of all the high school kids walking home. I should have worn shorts and a t-shirt because it was HOT, and considering how hilly my route was, I was a sweaty mess.

photo 1-120

DAD WIN: Successfully changing the batteries in the jumperoo while baby is actively jumping in said ‘roo.

photo 2-117

We had chicken quesadillas for dinner, I walked the pups and Wes was in bed by 7:30. By 7:31, I was in the tub with EXTRA HOT water to relax. It lasted about 20 minutes since the water was so dang hot I was sweating my butt off.

photo 1-121

Wednesday

I ended up getting 9 hours of sleep! Hooray! I started the morning off with Shakeology- I’m trying to limit myself to one shake a week because the stuff is so DANG expensive and the only closest alternative I’ve found is Vega and the taste is just not the same..even though it is good. I make mine with oats, pb, almond milk and ice. NOMS

photo 1-122

After my workout, we headed to the children’s consignment store where I scored a great winter coat (from baby gap) and sunglasses. We then headed to the mall for a high chair toy and then some groceries. Wes LOVED his new toy. Wes did NOT LOVE pureed chicken. I don’t blame him- shit’s gross.

photo 3-85

We played around for a bit afterwards. You guys, I think my milk intolerance is back. I had some Ben & Jerry’s and it did not agree with me in the slightest. Huge sad face. Guess I should make more cookies then.

photo 4-57

I noticed Sportchek was having a big sale and there was a jacket I was sort of eyeing, so we walked over to check it out. As luck would have it, it fit AND it was 50% off AND I had an additional $30 off, so basically they should have paid me to take it off their hands.

photo 5-35

We took a long walk afterwards before heading back home for some yummy turkey BLTs for dinner. I took the dogs for about a 1 1/2 mile jog (I hate that it’s getting dark out earlier!), bathed Wes and get him in bed. I passed out watching a PBS documentary on a nazi prisoner camp. How mood lifting, huh?

photo 1-123

Thursday

12 hours of sleep from the baby! Yay! Oh, and he’s found his thumb- sucked on it to put himself to sleep twice throughout the night! Before he was up, I had breakfast and fed the doggies. Seems that Reggie was feeling extra cuddly and wouldn’t leave my side. (PS: He’s usually an asshole).

 photo 2-119

I was able to let my food settle a bit longer before my workout, so YAY another win for the day. Anyhoo- I am really trying to take advantage of this great weather and be outdoors with Wes as much as possible. Rather than taking the car, I opted to walk to the nearby shopping center to run our errands. I needed some groceries, Quest bars, and umm…ice cream. About what I said before with that whole dairy intolerance…screw it. I love B&J too much.

photo 1-124

It was a quiet afternoon other than that. We ate, played, read books, napped. Scratch that- WES napped. I can’t nap during the day otherwise my sleep at night is screwed. At least for now.

photo 2-120

photo 3-86

I think he’s about 4 seconds away from sitting up on his own for more than, well..4 seconds.

The puppies got a nice long walk after our dinner of turkey and spaghetti squash. Then I took another bath because I WANTED TO.

photo-85

So that’s our week. Pretty boring to read, but I enjoyed every second of it because I absolutely love being able to stay home with Wes. Also, being able to stay in pj’s 99% of the time.

Make any good dinners this week?

Winesday Wednesday 10/21/15

Ok the weeks are flying by because it was definitely JUST Wednesday. But here we are again and I have hardly anything to share with you because A) I haven’t been in the mood to drink lately; B) I am trying to save money by not buying booze (insert shocked face here); and C) I would rather feel as good as I can in the early morning hours.

photo-55

With that, Tyler bought 3 more pumpkin beers for us to try last Friday. We only got to try one and it was terrible- Sam Adams Fat Jack

fatjack

It was a strong, heavy beer (8.5% ABV) and had a terrible taste. Even Tyler had to throw his away!

Sadly, the other two we weren’t able to try because we accidentally left them in the freezer overnight. WOMP

After that, I decided to switch to wine. I had two small glasses and woke up feeling like C-R-A-P the next day.

the end.

OH, BUT WAIT!

Michael sent me a pic of his latest beer! (Remember: send me photos of your stuff if you want them included in my WW posts)

photo-3

It’s Bell’s Brewery 30th Anniversary imperial stout. You can read about it here. Ummm…11% ABV?! I’m out. WOOF

What are you drinking this week?

Weekend Recap

Friday

I love low key days. They make our routine a lot less stressful. The morning started off with some protein pancakes and Olivia Pope (yay for catching up on all my recorded shows!) followed by an ab workout and a walk to the nearby shopping center to just browse. PS: So proud of myself for not buying anything. I’m getting so good at that.

photo 1-115

photo 2-111

photo 3-81

I’m really loving our Bob stroller- it’s so much more sturdy and makes for a smoother ride over some bumpy patches. At least, that’s what I’m guessing because Wes seems to nap so much better on our morning walks in this stroller! Only downside is that the parent console is a bit smaller on this one, so I can’t fit my Sodastream bottle in the cupholder. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.

We hung out with the pups when we got back instead of heading to the mall and potentially buying stupid things. I really need to save more money. Except, I’ll probably head to the store this afternoon and pick up some more Ben an Jerry’s since they’re 2/$10. Priorities.

photo 4-54

Lunch was my impromptu take on this Chipotle Apple Sweet Potato Salad. Mine included a roasted apple, sweet potato, some leftover broccoli, walnuts and muenster cheese. The chipotle dressing was ON POINT and was a great contrast with the sweet potato and apple. TRY IT!

photo 5-32

It was such a nice day out, that I decided to take Wes on another walk. I had to circle the block a few extra times since he was still sleeping, but it was then cut short when some douchehole neighbor decided to slam his trashcan around just as we were walking by. Insert wide awake and potentially grumpy/stunned looking baby here.

photo 1-116

We rounded out the night eating leftovers and catching up on Amazing Race.

Saturday

After breakfast and my workout, Wes and I bundled up for our morning walk. It was so nice out! He ended up sleeping for the entire hour, and I got some good ‘thinking’ time. That, and I got in my 10k steps by 10am.

photo 2-112

photo 3-82

Wes and I headed to the Y for our weekly pool class while Tyler set up the smoker for RIBS.

Afterwards, I made a batch of Cookies and Cream Cake Mix Cookie Bars. I need to stop baking. There are way too many sweets on my kitchen counter. Not the worst problem to have, but still. Does anyone want to come over and help finish these off? Bring wine or beer and I’ll unlock the front door.

photo 5-34

We had friends over for dinner and attempted to watch Pixels in 3D before calling it quits and heading to bed. Make sure you try smoked ribs if you’ve never had them. The flavor is out of this world. I’m still burping smoke.

Sunday

Just like how I have pancakes every Friday, I like to have my BAE on Sunday. SO TASTY.

bae

photo 3-83

And I indulged in a cuppa joe. Also: SO TASTY. I’m trying to stay off the coff, but I think a splurge every couple of weeks or so is worth it. I’m guessing my coffee consumption will drastically increase once I go back to work. Sigh.

photo 4-56

I took the pups out for a walk during Wes’s afternoon nap and it is HOT out. HELLLLLLLLOOOOOO this is Canada…since when is it warm in October?!!  No complaints. This California native cannot stand anything below 70 deg-rahs (degrees*).

SAD NEWS—-> Tyler sold our mamaroo and I am bawling my eyes out because I cannot part with any baby things. Tyler said it’s better to get rid of the electronic things while they’ll still sell and we can always buy another one for our next kiddo. (Phew, so he acknowledges that we are gonna have another. I’ve decided I love babies. Especially my own.)

Anyways…because it was so nice out, we decided to go for another walk. All of us! I don’t think that’s ever happened? ALERT: Tyler was away from the TV on a football Sunday. WINNINGphoto 1-118

We had leftovers for dinner and I think I’m about to die of fullness. Uneventful evening other than a hungry, grunty baby and a lot of laundry. Exciting!

How was your weekend?

{Eats}…From the Week

Not much to recap here since it’s really only covering Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so I thought I’d share some of the dinners we’ve enjoyed this week! There might be a few pictures of Wes in there, too. Can’t help it.

Tuesday: We had burgers on the grill of the smoker and some fries made in the actifry. Holy moly does charcoal give burgers the BEST flavor!

photo 1-113

photo 2-109

Tyler made my plate since I was feeding Wes and he gave me enough ketchup and mustard to last infinity. So I stole some of his burger 🙂

Wednesday: I made Chicken Enchilada Stuffed Zucchini Boats. They were so good! I ate mine way too fast and had a bit of a tummy ache.

photo 1-114

We met up with Leigh and Amelia earlier in the day to walk along the river. Wes tried out his Bob stroller and you can tell it was a hit.

photo 4-52

photo 3-80

Wes contemplated eating Sophie.

photo 2-110

Thursday: I made Crockpot Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Pasta. It was pretty good in the flavor category, but the consistency was a little dry. I kept adding additional chicken broth, but it didn’t help much. And of course I had to add some veggies, because #healthfreak (<—-HAHAHAHAHA yeah right).

photo-82

I also made a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars for two reasons: 1) because I was in the mood to bake, and 2) because it’s friggin dessert.

photo 4-53

GO MAKE THESE NOW.

Wes ate his rattle.

photo-83

Now it’s time for a no-pants weekend! Wes already got a head start. (Who am I kidding, every weekend is no-pants weekend. Make that every DAY. Every damn day.)

photo 5-31

What’s the best thing you ate this week?
