Eats and Exercise: 7/2

Hey guys. The last week and a half have been pretty crazy. Ok, well not really, but they were definitely not routine. Tyler had been home the whole time (his office downtown was still closed from the flood. ps: he just told me he got evacuated already this morning since the power shut off) so meals and sleep patterns and everything has been just a bit off. Except my workouts- I kept those pretty normal. I didn’t take to many dinner pics since it was actually HOT and more often than not, we would pick at stuff in the fridge rather than actually cook a meal. But here’s what I did manage to get:

Workouts last week looked like this:

  • Sunday: OFF
  • Monday: Hot Yoga (Traditional), Athlete’s Workout from Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises, 20 min cardio
  • Tuesday: Hot Yoga (BV), Wedding Prep Workout from WH, 30 min cardio
  • Wednesday: Hot Yoga (Union), Strength Workout from WH, 20 min cardio
  • Thursday: Hot Yoga (Traditional)
  • Friday: Hot Yoga (Traditional)
  • Saturday: Workout (Pictured below), 10 min cardio, Another circuit workout focusing on hamstrings and bi/tris.
  • Sunday: Hot Yoga (BV)

7.2 workouts

I didn’t do any of the Best Body Bootcamp workouts last week because I was mostly focusing on my last week of Hot Yoga (from my monthly unlimited pass) and I really wanted to try other strength workouts before the wedding.

Oddly enough, lately I have been considering getting into heavy lifting. I have found the DB’s I use are just feeling too easy in a lot of my exercises. Only problem is that I EASILY bulk up when I lift heavy. Hmm…

Yesterday was yet another hot day, so I really didn’t have the drive to get a workout done while the sun was still up. Plus, my gym was closed anyway for Canada Day, so I knew I had the luxury of completing a home workout at whatever time I wanted. SOOOOOOOO, at 10:30 last night, after the sun FINALLY went down, I managed to bust through a pretty good workout.

I have written the exercises below, but to further explain: There are 6 exercises and 6 cardio moves. I performed 10 reps of the first exercise (on each side when necessary), then did 30 seconds of its corresponding cardio. Repeat this 3 times, then move on to the next move/cardio combo. Hope that makes sense.

In other news, I dropped the kiddos off at the boarders this am. And now I am sad because the house is so darn quiet. I miss those idiots so much already.

7.2 dogs

Time to pack.

What have you been up to lately?

Eats & Exercise

Hey guys. Tyler still hasn’t been able to go into work yet..which makes this a 5-day weekend for him so far. It’s so weird to live in a city where there is so much flooding (i.e.: ‘devastation’ but I hate using that word) yet not be affected by it at all. Well, minus having Tyler in the house for a few extra days.

On to some of last week’s eats:

Monday: BLTs

Image

Tuesday: BBQ Chicken & roasted veggies

Image

Wednesday: Clubhouse Turkey Burgers (recipe can be found here. And ohmygosh are they GOOOOOOOOD burgers!)

Image

Thursday: Portobello Pizzas. Holy heck, the picture makes it look like they’re oozing with cheese! Trust me, they were not. Otherwise my stomach would have murdered me.

Image

Friday: Tacos

Last Week’s Workouts:

Image

  • Tuesday: 20 min run, 10 min spin, Baptiste Vinyasa Hot Yoga

Image

  • Wednesday: Best Body Bootcamp Strength Workout B,Traditional Hot Yoga, 15 min run, 10 min spin

Image

  • Thursday: Traditional Hot Yoga

Image

  • Friday: Traditional Hot Yoga. I know this might sound weird, but I actually felt my hips open up during this class. I have no idea how to describe the feeling other than that it felt as if I could control my hips and actually move them away from the center of my body. Now if only my knees would loosen up…
  • Saturday: Active Rest
  • Sunday: Off

So Saturday we were out and about running errands (aka: Looking for Tyler’s outfit for the wedding. You can tell how serious we are about this wedding since we waited until 2 weeks before to do this!) When we came home, Reggie had successfully pooped, peed, and got into the mud room closet and shred his bag of food…but he didn’t break the plastic barrier, so he got none of the food. I always wonder if Layla just stares at him while he’s doing all these naughty things. I decided to take pictures of both of them once we got home (and reprimanded Reggie) yet somehow, both dogs look like they were guilty parties. Let me remind you, Reggie was the ONLY guilty party in this incident.

One of our errands was to actually purchase new plastic bins for both types of dog food, so we completely cleaned out the mud room closet and got those bad boys in there.

There was actually SUN on SUNday, so I laid out on the patio until the clouds reappeared. I think the puppies were just excited for the sunshine.

Exercise & Eats

Hey there. I swear to God there were at least a half a billionty things I thought of over the weekend that I wanted to blog about….and then I forgot like all of them. DAYUM.

Last week’s eats: all of them were easy peasy. Honestly, I forgot what the hell I ate on Monday. And I’ve tried jogging my memory all morning (jogging a memory? Don’t get how that came to be a phrase).

Tuesday: Roasted veggies with brown rice and chicken breast. Seriously, so easy. But it was a well rounded meal.

Image

Wednesday: Pesto Chicken Paninis. I made some homemade pesto, added thinly sliced cooked chicken, tomatoes, and monterey jack.

ImageThursday: Scrambled Egg Sandwich. With leftover monterey jack, ketchup and sriracha! I had loaded up on veggies during the day, so I didn’t miss them in my dinner.

Image

Friday: Pizza. Lazy man’s dinner, but so tasty! Tyler had football practice and I went to yoga, so we were both pretty happy to plop on the couch with a few pieces o’ pie.

Last week’s workouts were good, too!

Monday: Hot Yoga, 20 minute HIIT on the treadmill (90 seconds brisk walk, 30 seconds ALL OUT SPRINT), Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises pre-wedding workout.

Tuesday: Hot Yoga, 20 min spin, another WH Athlete’s Workout (used lots of cable exercises and core work!)

Wednesday: Hot Yoga, sprints outside up and down the street (followed by one cat and a big ass bunny), another WH Athlete’s Workout- completed at home and SUPER sweaty.

Thursday: Hot Yoga

Friday: Hot Yoga

Saturday: Hot Yoga

Sunday: Off

Yes yes, lots of hot yoga. But um…I paid for a month unlimited, so I’m stretching my dollar as far as it will go! So far, I have only stuck to the Traditional Hot Yoga class (same format every class) and I have LOVED it. Today I am trying the Baptiste Vinyasa class. Super excited! Plus, you guys…this yoga business is getting my bod ready for the upcoming trip to NY. wink wink

Also, today is the start of the next round of Best Body Bootcamp. I have participated in the last four rounds, and just really like getting 8 weeks of pre-determined workouts. I find I always get myself in ruts: I either stick to some of the same exercises, or I am not seeing any benefits or results from my workouts. By changing it up with what BBB provides, it really just keeps me motivated to workout because I love trying new stuff.

Things totally unrelated to exercise and eats that I feel necessary to share:

I CANNOT stop listening to this song. Over and over. And over. And….over. And yes, I’m dancing to it like a loony in front of my dogs. They are not entertained whatsoever.

If I were to go camping, I would NEED to do so in this tent:

The puppies actually got to get some sun yesterday! Cute little beasts

We managed to watch all of season 2 of Spartacus. HOLY. The show is crazy intense and I love it. Plus, male full frontal. I mean..c’mon. (yeah yeah there are naked ladies in it too)

Last week’s eats:

Monday: It was our holiday here last Monday and we did NOTHING. Meaning, no cooking. I haven’t been too keep on Subway lately, but it was a quick, easy, somewhat healthy option that Tyler swung by and picked up on his way home from Football. No picture because, well….no picture.

BUT- I did sign up for the next Round of Best Body Bootcamp. If you’re interested, check out Tina’s site to see if it’s something you might like!
