Weekend recap

Hi! Life has been in the way of blogging, so I hope you’ll pardon the absence.

Tyler came home with a surprise on Friday:

The game takes pics of you while you are playing, and we got some GOOD ones… Now I just have to figure out how to retrieve them so I can share on here! You’ll laugh. You’ll want Tyler and I to be the couple you hang out with. The fun couple.

After, we consumed a butt-ton of tacos and terrible beer

20120429-152358.jpg
(I bought it because it had a tag on it saying it was one of the store’s favorites. The verdict: barf)

Layla indulged in a big ol’ treat

As I was attempting to take the above picture, this happened

20120429-152538.jpg

She’s a sneaky sneaky!

Yesterday we feasted on French toast

20120429-152634.jpg

Then drove to see the Foothills Dream home

There’s a raffle here in Calgary for the local hospital and the grand prize is this dream home. When we got to the area, we had to park then wait for a shuttle to take us to the home. Omg it was gorgeous! I just want the master suite and the entertainment room and I’d be happy! Please check out the link I provided so you can see pics of the inside- it really is drool worthy.

After we were humbled by that huge house, we headed to Five Guys (Tyler’s never had it!) and once again feasted

20120429-153040.jpg

Fast forward a bunch of hours (consumed with napping) and we decided to take a family walk to Safeway to get something for the BBQ (yes, all we do is eat in this household)
On the way home, Layla tugged a little too hard and my ankle got trapped in a little hole in the sidewalk and I bing-bang-bamboozled (also known as twisted) my ankle. Ugh, I have had too many problems with my feet in my life (twice broken foot and 25686433548383 sprains ad strains). Bad dog, Layla, bad dog.

20120429-153334.jpg

We had hot dogs and grilled corn on the cob. No pic because I ate it too fast. Caesars on the side

20120429-153448.jpg

Today has been filled with cleaning, immigration paperwork and a hop/walk with Layla. My belly is recovering from yesterday, so no food to recount from today….yet πŸ˜‰

I had to take another day off from working out today because of the ankle. It’s been really hard on me trying to keep the same standard of workouts that I had while in Boston. I have put on weight and have just been overall down about the whole ordeal. Tyler does his awesome duty as my man by telling me not to worry and I’m beautiful and all that, but I can’t help but feel guilty for not keeping my bootay in shape! I am taking the rest of the day to enjoy with my wonderful man, then it’s back to the grind tomorrow some serious sweat sessions!

Bright and sunny Monday

Don’t worry, everyone- I’ll post about this past weekend soon! There’s just so much to show and tell and I’ve yet to have the time to get it all together! In the mean time, I can show you some other pics:

I made some healthy strawberry scones for breakfast

20120423-171121.jpg
Te recipe can be found here. I didn’t make the yogurt sauce, nor did I do the egg wash or sugar on top, and I used applesauce instead of oil. The verdict: delicious!

I went to the jeweler to visit my diamond this morning! The ring Tyler gave me this weekend is not the real thing (he wanted to make sure I liked it before he had the real diamond placed in the setting) so I went to check it out, get sized, and give the OK to put my real one together!

I took Layla in the car with me because it’s beautiful outside and we went downtown to walk along the river.

20120423-171518.jpg

20120423-171532.jpg

We walked across the new bridge (one of many bridges we crossed today)

20120423-171609.jpg

Then we looped around, crossed another bridge, and went up a hill. Here is a view of the bridge- and you can see just how far we walked!

20120423-171717.jpg

Back by the river, my embarrassment of a dog decided to go in the water, lay in it, and not come out. People were laughing. Other dogs were behaving. I was mortified.

20120423-171830.jpg

20120423-171837.jpg

I got real sketchy back at the parking lot because I saw a group of girls doing my favoritist thing ever: planks. If I didn’t have Layla with me, I would have joined them! (Athena, I thought of you!)

20120423-172215.jpg

I’m now burnt, I have cleaned the house, and friends are on their way over for a gumbo dinner!

See ya later!

10 things

Just a few things to note for today:

1) strawberry-chocolate protein shake

20120417-144211.jpg
Check.

2) I went shopping this morning. I left the dog at home like this

20120417-144400.jpg
While I went to go get all this

20120417-144426.jpg
One of the purchases were these puppies

20120417-144503.jpg

3) This is my next read

4) my workout last night was 30 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical, followed by 10 minutes of abs on the stability ball and another 10 of HIIT on the spin bike (this was done after the 100 burpees πŸ˜‰

5) New favorite show to watch with Tyler?

20120417-145052.jpg
source
I honestly can’t stop laughing when I watch it.

6) coffee. Coffee coffee coffee.

7) let’s get back to the shopping trip. The sales associate as The Body Shop is really good at her job. I walked out with new perfume, a face scrub and some body butter. Whoops.

8) Banana Republic outlet. Not too threatening on the weekend when there are too many people in the store and you give up on trying to get a fitting room. But on the weekday? Deadly. Thank god for my awesome willpower. Wish it would work against chocolate.

9) new song downloaded today

20120417-145757.jpg

10) I am procrastinating going to the gym by taking Layla for a walk. I think it’s proactive. Put off exercising with more exercising.

Fill in the following:
1) my dinner tonight is ______________
2) my current favorite song is ___________
3) my least favorite exercise is ____________

Whoop there it is.

The Golden Workout

I had a terrible dream last night that I was being chased by people with guns and knives and bombs and they wanted to kill me. I’ve had the exact same dream before- it took place on a street I used to live on, and I just could seem to ever run fast enough. Then, I have the thought in my dream where I know it’s a dream, but my mind can’t get it to stop. Perhaps that’s why I had a terrible night sleep. That, and the fact that I kept getting tangled in the damn sheets. They’re too big for the bed. And between Tyler and a squirmy dog and me- well, it gets ugly.

Breakfast this morning was chocolate almond butter oats

Nothing super special, but they keep me full for a long while. Doesn’t hurt that it tastes great.

Layla and I went for a walk afterwards. 4miles (6.5ish km)
I tried Skyping my mom while we were walking, but the dog was pulling me too much and Canada’s reception sucks so I kept freezing. But it was a funny try.

Little bit of snots

Great view (my favorite pic from our walk)

Im about to grab a bowl of leftover chili for lunch. This is a pic I took of the chili from last night

Pretty dang delicious, if you ask me.

Once this bowl of yum yum digests, it’s off to the gym for this workout:

The Golden Workout

(because everything is done in sets of 50)

10 minute warmup

50 squats (weighted)

50 jumping jacks

50 lunges (weighted)

50 jumping jacks

50 pushups (take breaks if necessary- as long as you get to 50)

50 jumping jacks

50 leg lifts

50 jumping jacks

50 hip raises (weighted)

50 jumping jacks

50 side crunch pushups (25 each side)

50 jumping jacks

1 min plank

10 min cool down

******

That, plus a long, hilly walk should suffice for physical activity for the day. However, if I still have energy, I might throw in a quick run and/or abwork on the stability ball.. I’m aiming for it!

Anyone have a a favorite workout/move they’ve been loving lately?

Starting Easter weekend

I have some serious catching up to do. Especially with food pictures. Because I eat a lot of food. A lot.

Last nights dinner was quick as painless.

20120406-165519.jpg
Chicken strips with broccoli and quinoa. For the chicken, I cut the breasts into strips, dipped them in egg, coated in cornmeal and baked at 350 for 15 minutes. Yum.

20120406-165718.jpg
It was obviously a great meal, because Layla wanted every bite.

20120406-165759.jpg

Then, Tyler and I sampled quite a few of those cookies I mentioned yesterday. They were all-too tasty. And I love them.

20120406-165900.jpg
Mmm, chocolate never goes wrong in my eyes

20120406-165928.jpg

We watched the third Harry Potter movie and were off to bed. I finally finished Fifty Shades of Grey and have moved on to Loce the One You’re With by Emily Giffin

Thank goodness for Facebook, I got some great suggestions on what to read next!

Oh, and I finally changed my dang nail polish

Easter festive!

Speaking of Easter, I gave Tyler his basket early. 1) because I suck at holding on to presents because I love giving them, and 2) because some of the candy in that basket was for me and I wanted it!

20120406-170530.jpg
I.love.easter.candy.

This morning’s breakfast was nice and hearty because we were going for a hike with joe, Twyla, and all the doggies. I had oats mixed with 1/2 mashed banana, raisins, cinnamon, honey, almond milk and almond butter.

20120406-170736.jpg

We drove to the mountains for our hike and I was able to get some b-e-a-utiful pics.

20120406-170826.jpg

20120406-170837.jpg
And my water dog..

20120406-170910.jpg

20120406-170924.jpg

20120406-170929.jpg

20120406-170934.jpg

20120406-170939.jpg
Tyler had put some chicken in the crockpot before leaving, so dinner was practically made when we got home (and finished painting the living room!!!!!!! Yay, no more painting for a LONG while!!!! Jen is happyyyyy!)

20120406-171117.jpg
On to Harry Potter movie nΓΊmero cuatro, some brewskis, and of course…. Easter candy πŸ˜‰
