Seven Steps to this Humpday

HHD, folks. (Happy Humpday for short.)

Jumping right into it, since I suck as smooth transitions, here we go:

1. Yesterday, I posted about my upper body workout. But I also did Tina’s total body circuit workout from Best Body Bootcamp. The best part about that workout? She had us do 6-8 reps of each exercise with a heavier weight immediately followed by using a lighter weight and performing the same exercise until fatigue. It’s totally a great way to change up your workout without really changing it. (I’m talking to you: people who think that doing bicep curls only will make you sexy.) Oh, and I did the workout in my family room, while my mom sat next to me, and we were watching the finale of Design Star All- Stars (neither of us saw a single episode of the season, so naturally it made sense to watch this. hear the sarcasm?)

2. Breakfast this morning was a little trip to Coffee Planet

Sorry about the butt shot, mom. I told you I was talking a pic, but you continued to walk right in.

And I had the world’s largest bagel.

Ok, ok, it’s actually an everything bagel, but I took the liberty of renaming it. I would be lying if I said this thing had zero carbs, but that’s what I told myself the whole 732 minutes it took me to eat it.

Those were probably two worst two sentences I have ever written in my life. I’m too lazy to hold the backspace key to make changes.

Mom had a hot chocolate that reminded me of Harry Potter

Anyone else think of the ‘ol HP??

3. I got my first pedicure since prom.

Mom took me since she had to get her nails filled. Thank God I shaved my legs last night. Oh, and apparently since my last pedicure, salons have had major upgrades. I’m talking about those massage chairs. UM WHAT?! Had I known I was gonna get a little back rub with my polish, I would have made it back sooner! HOWEVER. This massage chair was NOT what I was expecting.

Um, yeah. That part was awkward. Especially since it was a guy doing my nails and I was all “OOOooo my butt!” and then made a somewhat pleased expression. I cringe to think what HE was thinking.

4. I finally found the necklace I have been looking for forever!

It’s the Karma necklace from Dogeared.

“But wait!” you say, “If you are providing the link, why didn’t you just order it online if you wanted it so badly?”

Good question, readers. Good question.

I am no stranger to online purchases. But for some reason I wanted to actually see it and touch it and hold it before buying it. Because I am weird like that.

Basically what I’m saying is, I just didn’t think to buy in online.

I’ve also realized from this picture that I should probably make an appointment with a Dermatologist.

Anyhoo, I found this gem at Sterling & Company along with a few other goodies that I can’t post because they are gifts to some people who read this here itty bitty blog.

5. We visited my apple dumplings at Sutton’s. These are one of my top favorite foods that I would probably ask for these if I was on death row and had my last meal request. Well, that and Pyramid Apricot Ale. And In-n-Out. I am so having these on the dessert table at my wedding. Athena, I’ll be hiring you for a ‘morning-after-wedding’ workout.

6. We somehow made our way up to Lake George, and I managed to see a moose! And a bear!

I should have probably looked in the mirror before I left the house this morning. Ouch.

7. I have a 3.5 mile run still on my to-do list. As well as a bottle of wine. Let’s hope one gets done before the other.

Tuesday

Sad to think it was a WHOLE WEEK since I was getting ready for Two-A-Day Tuesday with my Boston gym family. But I had alternate methods of exercise today. Enter: Kayak.

Oh wait, first lemme just show you THIS GIANT BLOB OF GOODNESS:

SO good. Mom and I met with the wedding coordinator yesterday and she suggested a couple places to pick up samples goodies for a dessert table. I was pretty much set with the cookie, but we had brownies, cowboy bars, some peanut butter chocolate bar, carrot cake and cupcakes. Mmmmm

Oh yeah, this was my view all morning. Got a great upper body workout and a sweet life jacket tan.

Mom apparently couldn’t see where I was taking this picture from. Even though I was like 3 feet away

And dad just straight up didn’t know I was taking this pic

After we did a lap around the lake, we decided to hit up the Docksider, which is surprisingly along the side of the dock where we launched. (Appropriately named, eh?) I chose to not have anything since the majority of the menu is fried, but I did get to enjoy this view for a bit

Can’t hate that view on a beautiful day.

While we were there, I managed to find an AWESOME recipe on my Google Reader that I decided to whip up as soon as we got home. Introducing: Cherry & Grape Salsa (recipe found from this post)

Click on that link above and make that recipe. Like now. It’s quite possibly the best combination of flavors ever. (except for maybe chocolate and peanut butter).

Even though I did get in a sunny upper body workout on the lake this morning, I am still gearing up for some circuits/cardio in the basement tonight. (In case you were wondering)

And last, but certainly not least, I get to see these two faces in 3 days. And I cannot wait.

This week in words

Crap, it’s Sunday already. No es bueno. Since I have been pretty M.I.A. in posts this week (besides my minor tangent on relationships through music) I decided to recap the week. Do you care? No. But I have been reminiscing all day so I’m going to write about it anyways.

Monday

Workout: Strength Circuits in my room

Other: Group tasting for my wedding food. It did not go well. And by ‘not well’ I mean that I decided to go with the company I met with last week instead.

Tuesday

Other: Bought my Wedding Dress! (Not showing anyone but Kysha and Katie and my parents until next summer) Here’s the best part: since I have a freakishly irregular shaped body, I had to customer order the gown. How freakishly irregular, you ask? (Think in dress-size terms. Boys: skip ahead) My chest is size 5, waist is size 8, and hips are 14. Woof.

Workout: Liz’s Kix class and Athena‘s circuit training. After I bought the dress, I headed out to Boston to see my gym family and have a 2 hour workout. Best 2 hours ever. Super sweaty, pain, laughs…basically all of my favorite things.

Wednesday

Workout: I stayed overnight at Athena’s and she taught spin the next morning. I haven’t taken a spin class since March, even though I have been using the bike in my own workouts. She had fantastic music, and used some of Tina’s intervals from Best Body Bootcamp (If you can’t tell already, Athena and I are fitness twins. Except, sometimes she can do way more regular pushups than me.)

Other: After spin, I went shopping. Actually, is was more like wasting time. But I did buy a shirt. Then I headed to Kysha’s surprise baby shower! I hadn’t seen my bestest friend in a year, and she looks fantastic. Better than fantastic. Once the shower was over, I headed up to my cousin’s house to crash. I was a total couch surfer this week. And I put 1,000+ miles on my parents car. Whoops.

Thursday

NO WORKOUT.

Other: I helped my mom buy a wheelchair for my aunt. Yes, a sentence I never dreamed of typing. I also met up with my high school bestie- she lives right across the street from my parent’s house and we may or may not have matching tattoos that were established roughly around our 18th birthdays. We had a drink- she introduced me to a Baby Guiness (a shot with Kahlua on the bottom and Bailey’s on top)- and stayed out till 3 am. Insert headache here. Not from the booze, but from the late bed time.

Friday

I’m not even kidding, I sat on the couch from when I woke up (11:30am) until 11pm. What was I watching? The Police Women of Memphis and Police Women of Broward County on OWN. That’s right, Oprah stole a show from TLC.

Workout: I actually fell to the floor somewhere between the hours of 8 and 10 and did lots of ab work.

Saturday

EARLY WAKEUP, Y’ALL. I had to pack, do my homework, paint my nails, workout, and do my hair before my 11 am departure time. Which turned into noon.

Workout: I trekked down to the basement for a good, sweaty 60 minute session. I did intervals on the treadmill and strength circuits. Here’s how I broke it down:

Once I got BACK to Boston for the second time this week, I slapped on some makeup, and we all met up for my girls night/bachelorette party. (I took a whopping ZERO photos, so I am waiting for Athena to post her recap and I can direct you guys to her!)

We started off with dinner at Granary Tavern then headed over to Ned Devine’s for the Improv Asylum’s bachelorette/drag show. One of them kissed me ON THE MOUTH.

And I capped off the night with street sausage. I do recall referring to it as ‘saw-seeeeeeeeige’ for quite some time.

Sunday

Today sucks. I left Boston, got stuck in redonk traffic, and was crammed with a few hours of plug-n-chug homework. And I still have to work out. Since my brain is fried, it will probably be something similar to yesterday’s.

To end on a funny note, I will tell you that this picture can pretty much sum up the entire night last night:

A HUGE thank you to all the girls who went out of their way to make last night super awesome! I can’t wait to get back to Boston already!

My relationships through music- Part 1

I have decided to write a series of posts on my past relationships-through the use of music videos.

I have had 4 serious relationships in my life. One boyfriend in high school, one in college, one post college, and now Tyler (i like him the best). Prior to Tyler, I had some pretty crazy stuff happen in my relationships- so I thought I would chronicle them for your entertainment. (If you are viewing this in your Google Reader, you may not see the videos. For these posts to make sense, I highly recommend clicking over to my blog to view and listen to each song to really grasp the horror/hilarity of my situations.)

For the sake of not going in chronological order, let’s start with my college boyfriend.

His pick up line? It was on facebook. And he said he thought I looked like this girl:

ps: I totally don’t, but I was desperate for a compliment, so I went with it.

Before you know it, I grabbed my jeans and white button-down shirt and was rejoicing like this gal:

He thought about it for a bit, and told me:

Summer passed, and we returned back to campus. Stuff changed. Then, he was calling me this:

Haha, kidding. Really, I think he was just listening to this song too much

he was distant. and sometimes I couldn’t get in touch with him. And when I finally did, I’d break up with him. Then 20 minutes later text “jk ilu” and we would go out for a date night. Then it would all happen again. And again.

and then he dumped me. officially.  CORRECTION: HIS MOTHER DUMPED ME for him. Via email. And I was sad. Depressed. And I probably listened to this song a billionty times in a row

Before realizing that he was a douche. Especially for having his mom break up with me. When I was pretty much handicapped on campus (broken foot + crutched + hilliest campus ever= DEATH). Oh, and for starting to date my neighbor on campus before his mother sent said email. Then, I pretty much was all:

(Seriously, if you’re just scrolling through this and looking at song titles- I STRONGLY encourage you to listen to listen to the above song. It’ll give you a chuckle)

After calming down, I pranced around school singing:

That relationship was totally unhealthy.

No really, I gained like 20 pounds while dating him

The end. (just wait for Part 2- the POST college guy. Aka: the one that REALLY screwed me up)

Right now

So here’s what’s happening right now. I’m sitting in Whole Foods using their free wifi and drinking this

20120815-152443.jpg
And eating this

20120815-152502.jpg
And staring at Lululemon.

What’s a girl to do but smile?

(ps: LOVED two-a-day Tuesday with my Boston gym family last night AND I was spoiled enough to take Athena’s spin class today. AND I bought my wedding dress yesterday. AND I found the wine Tyler and I loved when we stayed in the Berkshires last Labor Day. AND I am happy!)

(pps: clink on Athena’s link up there👆because she recapped yesterday way better than me.)
