Sorry in advance if it appears I am half assing this. I’m trying to watch SOA at the same time and apparently it’s taking a bit of priority. Um YEAH Charlie Hunnam. So now, I shall answer the 10 questions Jo posted.

1. What are the ingredients for a perfect day?

  • workout
  • booze
  • sunshine
  • friends/family
  • laughter
  • yummy food
  • music
  • naps

2. If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go? Why?

Hawaii. Or San Francisco. Or Europe. Places where there is good food, good drink, and maybe require some walking from place to place (so I can call it a workout)

3. What is your favorite brunch food?

Pancakes. Or any type of muffin or scone that my mom bakes.

4. What was the last bad movie you watched?

The Lords of Salem. It was some horror movie with Rob Zombie’s daughter that Tyler downloaded. We didn’t even finish it because it was SO bad.

5. What’s your simplest pleasure?

Voluntary lovins from the puppies

6. What was your favorite childhood meal?

Chicken and Dumplings. (minus the chicken) So basically dumplings. But it sounds better saying the whole thing

7. East Coast or West Coast?

WEST COAST BECAUSE THERE IS NO SNOW

8. What are you a geek about?

Making sure I am early for everything. Or know how to get to somewhere I’ve never been.

9. What’s something you regret, or wish you would’ve done differently?

Without potentially disappointing my parents for this answer, I’d have to say college. I LOVED my freshman year, but the other three years were just terrible. I didn’t enjoy volleyball (new head coach was TERRIBLE), didn’t care for my classes, and just had a depressing social experience. Probably my fault for choosing to go to a school with a population less than 2,000 students. I don’t REGRET it, I just wish I had gone through the experience differently.

10. Name your top 3 TV shows:

Right now: Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Amazing Race

Of all time: Friends, Golden Girls, AFV

******

And now, I will present you, my fine readers, to answer any OR ALL of the following questions (get creative be funny, be serious, be you!)

  1. What’s your first childhood memory? Telling my dad I was three and was about to get glasses.
  2. Do you announce to your significant other when you fart? YUP
  3. Least favorite household chore? Making the bed or ironing. Tough call.
  4. Weirdest date you’ve been on? Any of the MANY match.com dates I went on when I lived in Boston. Interesting is an understatement.
  5. Have any recurring dreams? That I’m pregnant, or lose a tooth, or running from zombies.
  6. What would you do to make the news? Something wacky like twerking in an inappropriate public place. Or having eaten the most chocolate chip cookies in an hour.
  7. Weirdest peeve? For some reason, I’m ALWAYS bothered by how dirty the kitchen is when I come home from a workout. Or rather, I seem to get bothered by the entire house being dirty when I come home from workouts. Must be the endorphins?

I had a busy day on Saturday, so I needed to wake up early to squeeze in SOME kind of workout. Also, boo to my crappy gym for not opening until 8am on a Saturday..the ONE time I actually wanted to get to the gym early on a weekend. Anyways, I did three rounds of the above workout, with 10 reps of each exercise (10 on BOTH sides when necessary).

Needless to say, after getting through this workout, spending the rest of the day shopping, and the rest of the night dancing/in heels, my legs were DEFINITELY feeling it on Sunday. And maybe still feeling it now.

Latest music:

I had cardio on the agenda yesterday for my workout so I quickly downloaded a few of the latest songs to help power me through. Love them all, although Applause really helped when I was spinning and Royals just made me feel pretty badass.

Haha just kidding. I’ve loved this guys for a couple of years now.

What are some of your latests?

Drumheller

Last Wednesday, Tyler and I drove out to Drumheller, AB for a mini ‘us’ day and a mini adventure.

Screen shot 2013-09-09 at 7.33.37 PM

For lack of an official description (you can totally Google it if you want) Drumheller is part of the Badlands…aka where the dinosaurs are. And I really like dinosaurs- especially stegosaurus and triceratops – so it was totally worth a visit. Even better, it only took about 90 minutes to get there.

The drive was pretty boring though. A whole lot of nothing to look at. I managed to nap in both directions because that’s how good of a copilot I am.

99 drive

Once we got to Drumheller (ok ok, I know you’re too lazy to open a separate window to read about the place. So here—> I linked up the wikipedia page for you). We opted to take a tour of the museum. It was actually a lot bigger and better than I expected. The tour path took you through the different eras and displayed all different kinds of dinos and such.

I’m not really good at describing things, but if you’re ever in the area, I would definitely recommend checking it out. There were tons of T-rex models (some of the largest and most in tact in the world!) and it was a museum that catered to all age levels.

I oohed and aahed like a little kid the whole time. It was just no neat seeing all the dinos and actually being in the location where so many of them were found. Tyler and I kept chatting about how crazy it was that we were walking around where dinosaurs once rawred and pooped.

After we completed out tour through the museum, we headed to the lookout point and the interpretive trail to see first-hand the locations (or similar geography) where fossils were discovered. It was really hard to believe that the land was once covered with giant sequoias- the place was a true badland! It was extremely dry weather and the entire valley was dry rock and hoodoos.

Oh, I’m sorry…you don’t know what a hoodoo is? It’s one of those thin, tall rocks that have a flat top (usually because the top is made of material that doesn’t erode as easily). Lazy man definition, but it might help you answer a future jeopardy question.

Next time, we really want to make it a longer day-trip so that we can explore some of the other trails. It was a billion degrees out when we went, so we didn’t feel TOO bad about cutting our walk/hike short.

Visit any museums lately?

What’s your favorite dinosaur?

I Forget What I Did Last Weekend

I really should have recapped the long weekend sooner. Because now that I’ve sat down to do it, I realize two things:

  1. I really didn’t do much
  2. …that I can remember anymore

The only way to jog my terrible memory is to look through whatever photos I managed to take. And usually on weekends, I take terrible pics.

Ok, so what happened last weekend? Hmmm. I somewhat remember eating lots of bacon and lots of eggs. I sat on the patio floor with the dogs and scared all passersby with my wispy afro.

I took the puppies to the park while Tyler was still sleeping. All the of us (me, Reggie, and Layla. Because remember, Tyler is still at home in bed at this point) frolicked around and hopped in the river. A super sunny trip to the park calls for ice cream upon our return.

I met up with my friend Mackenzie to paint pottery

Image

..and drink beer

And Tyler made ribs for us.

So yeah, I definitely need to work on getting these posts written sooner rather than later so that they’ll actually have content.

Eats and Outfits

Different than the norm of ‘eats and exercise’ (because let’s face it, you don’t need to see a M-F list of me going to Hot Yoga classes) I decided to go with the outfits I wore to work each day last week…and then corresponding dinners.

As far as the clothes went, I really got to relax with my dress code. I wore jeans twice, green khakis, an A-line dress, and black ultra-skinny pants (not jeans) from the GAP. OMYGOD THOSE SKINNY PANTS ARE FANTASTICAL. Seriously, go to Gap and try them on. And then buy them. And wear them everywhere.

That gorgy-pordgy elephant belt was originally priced at $49!!! Holy shniz, I would not pay that much for a belt. Luckily, I know how to work a sale (and an associate) and I wound up paying $11 for that sucker.

Meals for the week were all SUPER EASY. I mean, I was trying to manage work, set aside a few hours each day for yoga, walk the pups, get laundry done, yadda yadda, so anything that was easy peasy ended up yummy in the tummy.

On the menu: gnocchi with sausage, marinara, roasted veggies; pizza; bulgar with raw veggies; turkey burgers; and an asian chopped salad.

I won’t be posting a recap of this week’s outfits because, well……….. I quit my job. Yeah, after only one week of employment, I opted out of that position in pursuit of a much better opportunity. I’m really excited to start my next job next week (it’s downtown!!!!!!!) because I believe it will be a much better environment for me. Insert all sorts of philosophical thoughts and hopes and dreams here.

Next post: recapping the long weekend. AKA: I drank corona (well, shit. I just ruined the suspense)

Oh, and in case you DID want to know my list of workouts from last week:

  • Monday: Sprint Repeats around the block/Hot Yoga
  • Tuesday: Full Body Strength workout/Spin
  • Wednesday: Hot Yoga
  • Thursday: Pyramid Workout
  • Friday: Hot Yoga

Question: Do you have your ‘go-to’ veggies? I almost always resort to buying red peppers, sugar snap peas, grape tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers.
