Winesday Wednesday 7/15/15

I really think I should start making my Winesday Wednesday posts every other week– I am running low on stuff to share!

Only thing I’ve got this week is from Angry Orchard called The Muse

From the website: Inspired by the festive nature of slightly sweet demi-sec champagnes and sparkling wines, The Muse is a bubbly, effervescent cider made from traditional culinary and bittersweet apples and aged on French oak. The cider is sweet upfront with a juicy apple aroma and bright acidity, and slightly drying on the finish with a lingering sweet apple note. The French oak adds a subtle wood impression, imparting notes of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and hints of vanilla. 7.7% ABV.

Hmmm ok…so maybe it’s just my novice-drinking status, but it tasted just like regular hard cider.  Granted, it came in a champagne-like bottle which is uber classy, but it was just enough for a glass for me and a glass for Tyler. And it was $20. Thanks, crazy Canadian price.

Also, I think I’ll be laying off the booze for a bit- this past week pretty much wiped me out!

What are you drinking?

Weekend Recap

This is the first Monday in a long time that I’m glad the weekend is over- only because Mon-Fri usually consists of a more routine day for me and Wes.

Friday: Tyler worked from home, but I acted like he wasn’t there so that Wes and I could still do our normal Friday thing. After a couple of feedings/play/yadda yadda, we went to the mall to walk a few laps. I also managed to restock on my Lush must have’s (ugh…wallet hurt).

Ocean Salt is my go to scrub- LOVE the smell and the consistency and how my skin feels after it’s rinsed off!)

Lovely Jubblies is intended to be a breast cream, but I put it all over my body because the whole thing could use some firming..not just the tatas! Plus, it smells like a dreaaaam. The sales associate told me they were discontinuing this soon which is a HUGE disappointment.

After we got back from the mall, I took Wes for a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood. It was HOT and I got really sweaty, mostly because I was going at a pretty brisk pace and went up every hill I could find. Wes stayed cool in the shade and slept the whole time. Lucky baby.

Tyler made a stupid good pizza for dinner and we watched Home after Wes went to bed. Ok, we watched half of Home because we got too tired.

Saturday: I went to spin in the morning. One of my favorite tracks is Rihanna’s Jump (i have searched high and low for the exact remix and can’t find it. Here’s the closest one->)

Uhhh so good.

Later, I met up with Susie at Stampede. We stuck to the Nashville North tent while we were there. PS: Apparently it’s not as fun when you’re not black-out drunk. Also not as fun when you’re older than 90% of the people there. We still managed to have a good time, a few beers, and I lost my voice from trying to shout over the music.

We walked over to Ange’s place afterwards to watch the fireworks/chat/be annoying. I didn’t get home until 2am! NOT fun to take the train at the end of the night during stampede-so many gross and drunk people!

Sunday: Tyler fed Wes in the AM so I was able to catch up on a bit of sleep (PHEW). The rest of the day was spent doing chores, playing with Wes, watching the last day of stampede, and squeezing in a workout.

How was your weekend??

Winesday Wednesday 7/8/15

I committed a major party foul. I didn’t have a drink on my birthday yesterday. It ended up just being a really shitty day (the day wasn’t shitty, but I was in a shitty mood) so hopefully we can turn that around tonight! Tyler is coming home with a few beers so maybe that’ll help me lighten up.

Only new thing I tried this week is some flavored Mikes Hard Lemonade. For some reason, I was craving the sugary sweet kinda drink! We tried the black cherry (good), mango (good) and blood orange (not good).

And since last Wednesday was Canada day, we had a few beers (I had Corona…not my top choice by any means. I can’t believe I used to LOVE it)

Then again, since we are in Stampede, I have been craving some ICE COLD Bud. Can’t wait to hit the grounds on Saturday with Susie and pay $8 a can for them! (hint of sarcasm there. Only about the price though)

Michael sent me a pic of his latest (rare) find and I had to google it to see what the heck it was

And immmmm holy cow I would love to try this! It’s Barrel-aged Abraxas from Perennial Artisan Ales. The description reads: Imperial Stout aged Twelve months in Rittenhouse Rye barrels with cacao nibs, vanilla beans, ancho chiles & cinnamon sticks. I feel like this would be good with tacos, no?

So here’s something weird: RHOC airs on the network called SLICE here in Canada (kinda sorta like Bravo in the states, but not really even though they air most Bravo shows). Turns out, they air a few weeks after they air in the states. Not sure why, but last night’s episode was with the launch party for Heather Dubrow’s sparkling wine, Collette.

Turns out, it’s $38 a bottle? Mmmm maybe I’d try a bottle ONLY to see if it actually is good or if all of Heather’s friends are just being nice. Come to think of it though, I don’t think I’ve come across a sparkling wine I didn’t like..

Oh, and Tyler opened one of the cab sauv’s he recently bottled just to see how it tasted. The verdict? OMG SO GOOD. We’re gonna let it age a couple of years first, so I kind of have to put it in the back of my mind so I don’t ‘accidentally’ venture into the basement to get a bottle!

Happy Winesday Wednesday! What are you drinking?

Weekend Recap

This weekend actually felt good and long! Although, now that I say that I sure do miss Tyler already. Stupid work. But I don’t mind all this alone time I get with Wes. Makin’ him a mama’s boy for reals. BONUS: I remember all the things we did this weekend.

Friday: Friday was the first day of Stampede! Since Wes and I couldn’t make it downtown for the parade, I made sure to celebrate at home with some pancakes. Susie came over and we watched Day 1 of the rodeo and Wes took a series of awesome little naps. Later in the evening, Tyler and I started on Season 2 of True Detective and Ballers. PS: Susie and I will be heading to Stampede this Saturday- my first girls trip out without the babe! I’m super excited…minus the whole boobs thing.

Saturday: I headed off to a  9:30 spin class (Was a little bummed that Wes still hadn’t woken up yet, so I couldn’t say bye!). I really love the instructor for this class and plan on making more of her classes. The only thing I still can’t wrap my head around is the disco ball- it’s a little too strobe-lighty and it’s dizzying! It was still an awesome workout though- such a great way to start the weekend!

We ventured out to Home Depot and Costco (seems to be a typical Saturday now) and I was able to have a snack plate out on the patio and enjoy the sunshine before a quick and MASSIVE hail storm rolled through. Wes was just being a cute baby.

And Tyler made us burgers. NOM NOM NOM. After Wes went to bed, we watched Star Wars Episode IV. Talk about a throwback!

Sunday: We slept in then took yet another trip to Home Depot (they really should have a frequent shopper program there!) The rest of the day was spent hanging around the house, doing chores and being awesome. No pictures necessary for the ‘being awesome’ part.

Today marks the 2 year anniversary of our wedding (Even though we’ve been married about 3 1/2 years now) and tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY. Aka: the best day of the year. I seriously love birthdays. I hope Wes got me something good. Besides barf and poo.

Winesday Wednesday 7/1/15

Happy Winesday Wednesday AND Happy Canada Day! All the more reason to drink.

I don’t really have anything new to share. Womp, womp. I know. I had a Wild Rose Wraspberry Ale on the patio on Friday. I had a Grizzly Paw Beaver Tail Raspberry Ale in Canmore with lunch on Saturday, a glass of Seven Deadly Zins before bed, and a Stiegl Radler while trying to sunbathe on Sunday.

PS: There is nothing like a cold beer in the mountains. Anyone want to join me next time? I won’t bring the baby so we can drink more.

Sounds like a lot now that I really thing about it. Whatever. I think it took me like 3 hours to finish that glass of responsible of me.

Michael sent me a pic of more goodies this week:

Bell’s Oberon Ale (a wheat ale! Yum!) and MacMurray Ranch pinot noir (one of my current favorite type of reds!)

And my friend Amy sent me an article about a Keurig-Like Machine That Will Make the Perfect Cocktail. I think I would need this after I’ve had one or two drinks because I usually don’t care about ratios at that point and mixed drinks end up a mess. Anyone want to send me one? Thanks.

I’m off to get ready to celebrate Canada Day, hope you all have a good one!
