Falling back in love..with the treadmill

The day starts with this:

A big ol’ drink with my all-time favorite pre-workout fuel, Razor 8. Ohmygosh y’all, I swear my this stuff (I’m starting to say ‘y’all’ too much because of The Bachelorette. Grr). But really, it gives me the best oompf I need before I workout and there are no jitters or crash afterwards… Just the best!

On to the workout. Another day on the treadmill. I am starting to fall back in love with the treadmill. Like, I hug the machine after I’m done. Yesterday’s session looked like this:

Warm up: 5 minutes at moderate pace
0-5 run
5-6 walk at brisk pace
6-10 run
10-11 walk at brisk pace
11-14 run
14-15 walk at brisk pace
(my ‘walk’ was at 4.0mph and I varied my run from 6.0-7.0mph)

-Then, I did a squat series. With a body bar on my shoulders, I did 10 front split squats, 10 side split squats, and 10 reverse split squats. On each leg.

-Back to the treadmill for another 15 minute set (same as above)

-another squat set

-3rd set on the treadmill. Add a 5 minute cool down.

DONE

It was a fantastic sweat session. So fantastic, that I talked Tyler’s ear off about how great I felt afterward. Better that than bitch and moan to him!

And on to more randomness…

*Oo oo oo! I got my foodie penpal package yesterday, but I can’t share with you until the 30th, so watch out for that post!

Layla was a pooped dog last night. We took a long walk and chased bunnies and woofed and sniffed and rolled in the grass. And my we, I mean just Layla. I was tempted to woof though.

I got $115 back from Geico yesterday (for returning my MA plates) and I am seriously contemplating a trip to Lululemon. I’ve already done my research and know what I want. Is that bad….?

***Leave me a comment. About anything. I’m in the mood to hear some randomness from readers.***

The Wurst Date

Saturday was date day. Hooray!

Lots of pics. It started with a furry dog in my face. Followed by some mean pancakes. And my first ever trip to the driving range. With my very own set of clubs. And check out my golfing outfit. Very official.

Then we got to Wurst. Aka: an awesome German restaurant. We sat at the bar, got some fancy shmancy drinks, appys and dins. One of the apps were mussels. Did you know that I hate seafood? Well, I might be starting to like it. Tyler fed me 6 of those things and I liked them. He said it was probably because they were aphrodisiacs. Hehe. Then our main courses. I had bratwurst with red cabbage and some other delish stuff and Tyler had veal chop. Poor baby cow! Tasty baby cow.

And sangria.

And then, being the adults we are, we headed home to play Kinect. Seriously one of the most hilar things to do. Except don’t eat a belly full of German food prior to game time. Tummy ache like whoa.

But skinnygirl helps.

To recap: sleep in, hit some balls, head to Wurst for amazing food/bevvies, then go home and jump around in your jammies.

THE workout

TGIF.

quick recap: yesterday I ran 2035927304 miles with a couple of friends. ok, not that many miles. but it felt like forever. we had lunch at a local restaurant afterwards, and i think i drank approx. 3 gallons of water.

i also decided to write in all lower case today

and i got re-certified in cpr last night. my cert from the states is still valid, but the ymca’s in canada require you to get re-certified every 12 months. oof. one good thing i learned: there is no good samaritan law here. aka: i don’t have to help people if i don’t want to. also, they pretty much have a law that says as long as you’re helping others with good intentions, you’re ok. for example: if i drag someone out of the way because their car is going to explode, but in the meantime i break their back- its ok, i can’t get sued. because i was attempted to keep them from danger. i believe in the states i would be sued for trillions.

oh, and we booked a venue for the wedding. anyone out there who knows me personally, it’s july 6, 2013. so put it down in your calendar. you’re invited.

today: pretty low key. i just finished a crap ton of homework. le barf.

i also took layla for a walk to the pet store to buy her a big ol treat. lucky dog.

and, i worked out. obviously.

check this out. my hair is crazy curly. and i found my corpbasics tank! happy lady.

I’m better now

I’m better now- in case you were wondering.

Working out really does help your frame of mind. We ended up doing a lot of uphill runs with intervals of lunges/squat jumps/side shuffles. At the top of each hill, we did a set of 20 tricep dips, 20 pushups and 20 spiderman planks. I got mucho sweaty. Then, I was messaging Tyler as I was hiking back to my car, and he tells me they had pizza for lunch. And I’m all “Ahhh man, I’m starving.” He goes “Are you still downtown?” And I go, “mmmmyup.” And he says “meet me at my building and I’ll give you the leftovers.” And I was allll “ba-wi-da-ba-da-bang-ee-bang OK”- and you can quote me. Because it’s super normal to have a great sweaty workout, then go completely out of your way for some free leftover pizza. But that’s how I roll.

Then, I get home, eat 2 pieces, and feel completely barfy. Today, of all days, my stomach decides it hates cheese. Whatevs. I busied myself with more venue shopping for the ol’ wedding. (That’s shit is crazzzzzy tough!)

And because I’m a lady, I waited until AFTER Tyler got home to whip up a batch of margaritas. I’m celebrating making it halfway through the week. It’s totally normal. (I really just came up with that. Having no agenda gives you ample time to make room for drinks. Now that I say that, I might need to make some rezzies at a rehab facility spa.)

Ok…I’m off to go lounge some more. I’m getting pretty good at it.

For this and that

I need to vent.

I am frustrated. With my weight. My workouts. My friends and family being so far away. For feeling like a burden to Tyler. For not working. For not being able to work. For being alone all day. For talking to my dog because of being alone all day. For being afraid to spend money. For memorizing way too many commercial jingles and managing to somehow sing them around the house. Or when I actually do workout. For not being able to sleep at night. For not feeling like I can do anything in here or anywhere else while I am still in Permanent Resident Application purgatory. For not wanting to go teach my last bootcamp. For just about everything.

And now, I am going to go brush my teeth (I realize it’s almost noon), put on yet another pair of stretchy pants, and slowly drive downtown for boot camp. And I have no motivation. No ambition. Not now.

Maybe tomorrow.
